Recovery time

Hi all. I have a question that I would like to ask and any advise will be received with gratitude.
I "caught" a flu/cold bug flying back by air about 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately it went to my chest and as I was running a high fever I eventually had to have a strong antibiotic to help overcome it. . . this seemed to help, but not completely. I still have an irritating cough and my nose runs inconsistently!! I get this tickle at the base of my throat which can set me off coughing, almost like what I imagine hooping cough to have been!!! No normal muti works (cough mixture, sinus tabs, allergy tabs) I also feel oddly breathless a lot of the time, almost like I have some form of asthma - not that I have been a sufferer of that ever before. Because of all this I am TIRED - no energy and would seriously love to know what is going on. My local GP so far has not been able to suggest the cause.
Could it be because I have a PM. I have a 3 degree block and am 100% dependant.
Has anyone else had a similar problem??
Many thanks
Jen.

Your coughing

Could actually be whooping cough. I had it last summer and was sick for eight weeks. So tired! The coughing is so intense it can lead to vomiting. The nasal swab test is only accurate for the first two weeks, so the disease is often not diagnosed properly. In Minnesota, where I live, the illness is going around again. I've had it three times in my lifetime! Antibiotics don't help entirely. Mostly, they keep you from spreading the germs. Not trying to diagnose your ailment, but don't rule out whooping cough. Hope you feel better very soon. Get plenty of rest.

Whooping Cough - Hmmmmmmm!

I had Whooping Cough as a child, just before the vaccine was introduced. Iwas to young to remember it, but my Grandmother told me about it - repeatedly over the yrs. Really affected here to see/hear me cough. The coughing must have really been dramatic!

Anyway, went & read the symptoms - here's the Wikipedia link. Your description seemed to lack some detail - read this & let us know how closely this describes your situation.

Tough one to get a definitive diagnosis on after it gets to this point. Apparently not much help available, either - you just have to be tougher than the disease. An alternative diagnosis may be bronchitis - that can affect you in the manner you describe.

Don

Probably no PM influence on the infection you got - not respiratory types, anyway.
