Good morning and Happy New Year to all. Did any of you catch the news blurb yesterday about the researchers in Michigan who are using piezoelectric materials to power pacemakers? It's basically a batteryless pacer that runs via natural actions of the heart. Rather than my trying to explain it, just Google "heart powered pacemaker" and you'll get several links. (I found it on Yahoo news)
Things are still very much in the development stage, but, I'm still fairly young and pace 100% so I'll be needing a replacement in the future....wouldn't it be cool if you only had to go thru it once? And with no battery, theres no interference from EMF's. Check it out.
Peace, Rick

OMG! That would be SO cool! Thanks so much Rick for posting this! I've never heard of this before. I'm going to email my EP doc in Seattle to see if it's possibility for my CRT-P. I'd even be interested in participating as an experimental patient if it's possible.
Thanks again! I know everyone will be going to search it out on Google after they see this (like I just did). I'll keep watching this post to see if others have heard of it before, or have any additional information.
Thanks again! You're an angel!

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!

I know that procedure won't be "perfect" either, and most likely has numerous unknown side-effects as well, but to me, it sounds VERY interesting and worth a try.
I wonder if it didn't work, if they could replace it with a regular PM?
