Another lead 1 year later

I need some feedback...last April i got a rate response pacer for bradycardia. Since then I've had more and more conduction problems, skipped and blocked beats, PVCs ect. Now they are talking about putting in a ventrical lead(I only have an atrial now). How common is this? I'm a little nervous and not too happy. I have a 2 month old baby that I want to continue to nurse.

fairly common

My first pacer was single lead, next pacer was dual chamber with ventricle being paced also. I think that this is very common. It's basically a way to get everything more synchronized and working together. Heck, my doctor has even discussed a third lead on the other ventricle (not soon but possibly in the future)

The more synchronized they can get things the better function your heart has. The procedure is the same as the original and you will hopefully feel better afterwards and get rid of most of those annoyances. I am not sure how they will feel about the nursing, they may not like it as it may pull on the incision but that is mostly cosmetic.

Conduction Problems

If impulses are not getting to the ventricles you need a ventricular lead. THe idea of having blocked beats is not a good one! I Your life expectancy is improved with dual chamber pacing. Your heart will be synchronised between the atria and the ventricles and work in a more normal fashion.

There are many people in this club that have had PMs for years and years. There is absolutely no reason why you cannot see your family grow up.

Wishing you well.

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.
