transplant story

Hello, My name is Rachel Jorawar. I'm 18 years old, at the age of 16 I was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy, I've had it all my life but no one knew. one day I was walking with my friend, next
minute I'm on the ground. next day the doctors at st Joseph hospital tell me that I have a huge hole in my heart and other problems, so they sent me to at Christopher's in Philadelphia where they tried to close the hole but it was unsuccessful, my mom didn't want to tell me right away that I needed a heart transplant but she managed to tell me. my friends and I were torn. for the mean time the surgeons at hahnemann hospital implant a diffibilator. I applied for a heart transplant there but was denied, they said I was fine. so I started seeing my doctors at st Christopher's which refered us to the children's hospital of Philadelphia & they told me I needed one immediately. July-August I was getting evaluated for one, but September I was on the list, days later an offer came up!!!! I went under anesthesia but was woken up minutes later to find out the other heart had failed. so a week later I get another offer & it was successful !! god really blessed me, I'm lucky! now I'm 11 months post transplant an i feel wonderful!

What an inspirational story. I am currently on the waiting list for a new heart and there are a few others in this club that are waiting and one I know of for sure that has already received his heart. Welcome!

thank you for sharing your story with us. Yes God really did bless you and you now have your whole life to look forward to with a smile on your face. I know another heart recipient who is much older than you but he is feeling so much better than he has in years and is doing everything like nothing was ever the problem. Enjoy you have so much ahead of you
