EP's are cardiologists who have one to two years of extra training in electrophysiology. Cardiac electrophysiologists focus on your heart’s timing, or electrical, system and on diagnosing and treating irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias. Electrophysiologists are qualified to perform special tests of your heart’s electrical system, such as an electrophysiology study or an ablation. In addition, this heart doctor can implant a pacemaker or a defibrillator, which is similar to a pacemaker but can shock your heart back into rhythm should you need it. .

Sorry I don't live in San Antonio. Do like the River Walk and the Alamo though

I have aCardiologist who does the plumbing and an Electrophysiologist who does the wiring..lol. They are both terrific at what they do and are in a "group". I think Docs who are REALLY good surround themselves with other docs who are also REALLY good. This group had 1 recruit who didn't last any length of time several years ago. I always see only my original Docs but I feel if there were another emergency that all in this group can be counted on. I don't live near you -so can't recommend. Best of luck to you..Bev

I see my cardiologist regularly. I only see the ep when it's time for replacement, he does the surgery.
