Like Nan, like grandson!

Grandkids wanted me to take their BP's with grandpa's monitor. 16 year old said he often gets dizzy when standing up quickly. BP normal, but heart rate low. I took his radial pulse which was very erratic and missing beats. Told his mother, who took him to doc. Holter monitor for 24 hours. Lots of problems found so he is going to a paediatric cardiologist, and GP says he thinks he will end up with a pm. Grandson is so worried, I have been able to put his mind at rest with all the lovely stories I have read here, especially when people run marathons, and Tracey E who seems to have done everything normally in her life. (Not that I think going to the gym normal, too hard for me !!!!!)
Thanks everyone.

Thanks Angry
I did not know that so many young have a cardiac condition. Yes grandson has been fully into sports, and has never felt dizzy when active. I have already reassured Mum. She is sensible. Since I have a pm she is not worried, and I will show grandson an X-ray showing pm which is just a computer. It looks interesting for a teenager.
BTW I have already said it is not heart disease, but an electrical problem. They have accepted that.

On everything she said. Sparrow, are you sure you're not an owl? You are very wise. :-)

Good going Alma!

You can guide him and ease his mind if he does need a PM. He can read all the stories here about the members who are athletes and continue to be. He is very lucky.... and very lucky to have a Nan like you. I'd say you are doing a great job!
