Often in postings, or on other websites, it is said when there is an emergency to call 911. This is for US. Please everyone, could it be said to call the emergency number in your country. Some years ago a person died here in Australia, as the one calling emergency called 911 and could not understand why there was no response. The caller had obviously been watching too many American movies, and panicked when in an emergency situation. Here in OZ it is 000, in New Zealand 111, in UK 999. I don't know about other countries. Thanks.

Especially if you are traveling to another country. There are pocket areas in the US that don't use 911 either.

I have had exactly the same thought after reading many posts recommending a call to 911 as this is a meaningless number in most countries ; and this IS an international forum !!
But ,on a similar theme,I was talking to my son about an hour ago as he has just returned from a business trip to the USA . He was telling me that he met a couple of guys who couldn't believe that we don't use dollars in the UK !!
It 's a big world folks !
