Hi! I've had a pacer for 18 years and I'm on my second device. My implant is on the right side. Recently,I've had a random shock/stabbing pain that will go on for a few seconds. It's hard to tell if it's my pacemaker but the pain is coming from around that area. I've also started to feel my pacer actually beating and today i could see it moving while beating. I'm not sure if this is common and I'm just noticing but I can't recall this happening before. My doctor is sending me for an echo to check the leads. I was curious if anyone has had any of the symptoms above or had your leads replaced. Thank you!

I was in town one and felt really bad. My son and I went to a sporting good store and I started to feel worse. I felt like a shock in my heart area, and by the time I got back to the car I began to feel better and better. I also have seen my pm vibrate. I told my doctor and he looked at me like I was crazy. He laughed and said that was impossible to vibrate. He also said there was no evidence of a shock. I guess I am dreaming.

I as well have experienced the "shock" feeling. I am on my 3rd pacemaker and it also is on the right side. I do telemonitoring for my pacemaker every 3 months and go to the pacemaker clinic every 6 months. I have told them on several trips there that i feel like i am being shocked. There repeated answer each time was that it probably is the nerves and "what not" surrounding the pacemaker and when i move certain ways it was triggering the nerves and giving me the sensation of being shocked. I would love to know what they tell you. I have had only 1 lead replaced for all my pacemakers. Good luck with your echo and i hope all things check out good and you get some answers from your doctor about "shock/stabbing pain.
