I was there !

I was at the London Marathon today; supporting my daughter-in-law who was running it.
I was there at the start and saw the one minute's silence for the innocent victims in Boston . It was very moving to see how many runners were wearing black arm-bands in sympathy for Boston.
There was quite a large police presence which, I must admit didn't re-assure me. It had the opposite effect in fact !
My daughter-in-law doesn't want anyone in the world to know about her time. She is normally very comfortably sub 4hrs but was helping a couple of marathon first - timers and finished in a time that didn't make her feel proud ! .....but she raised lots of money for the British Heart Foundation !!
Thanks Casper for your good wishes to the hearty runners

.....................................this is the Absolute Truth.
I am currently wearing a Hat and I am AT THIS MOMENT..taking it off to recognise the effort that your daughter-in law has made for the BHF..a fantastic Charity.
Some of my Club Mates did 'London' too and made some money (lots) for Help for Heroes and Leukaemia.
I tracked then from start to finish on computer(( IAN..all four are Thunder Runners))..one..Kate was on the deck receiving First Aid for 20 minutes and then , after 30 k, set off again,..for her ,..Help for Heroes comes before personal pain. I weep at the courage shown at London....Globally,.. the greatest demonstration of sporting and charitable courage and commitment.
IAN..that silence was very special........

PS..the hat is a £2 Charity Shop number (grey fur)..that Mrs TM says looks better on her than me...cheek !!

Ian,
Your daughter in law should be very proud to have completed the marathon and raising money for a great cause. Forget about the times.
I'm touched by the moment of silence, thanks guys for sharing that.
I'm happy to hear that the London Marathon was a success.

.................................I was 'there', as in , watched it on the telly !
To see 37,000 runners fall silent out of respect for Boston was one of the finest moments in running.
Many participants wore black ribbons
