I'm asking a simple question. First I asked for my numbers on my p/m and the teck gave me these numbers. Mode DDDR, rate LRL/URL, 60/130 DEpendent "NO", AP= 66% VP =17% RIGHT ATRIAL MESUREMENTS, SENSING 26 IMPEDANCE 456 THRESHOLD 0.7 @ 0.4,RIGHT VENTRICULAR MESUREMENTS SENSING 7.8, IMPEDANCE 375, THRESHOLD 0.8 @ 0.4 DEVICE BSX I don't know what these numbers mean but my Dr seams too be ok with them. But tonight i got real cold and it's hot here in Ca and my Blood pressure was find but my pulse was 44 and that kinda scared me , so I gave my Dr a call and he said that it was my metor and not the P/M but he said if it would make me fill better too come by in the morning and he would see if I had any problems. What I'm asking is has any of you had any problems with your pacemakers as too were they didn'e do what they were suppose too? . I just gut mind this year. Thanks for any help AL

Essay Question, Right?

AL: Here goes:
MODE - DDDR:
1st D = Dual, meaning it paces both upper (Atrial) & Lower (Ventricular) chambers.
2nd D = DUAL, meaning it SENSES what both sets of chambers are doing electrically. This is so that the PM knows what to do for pacing and when to do it.
3rd D = Dual, meaning it is INHIBITED from doing anything for either chamber if it senses electrical activity when it WANTS to perform a pacing operation.
R = RATE RESPONSE function is turned on. RR function controls the rate at which the PM drives your heart, based on sensed physical activity. RR only functions if the sensor detects activity & your HR is less than where the RR program thinks your HR should be.
LRL/URL = Lower Rate Limit/Upper rate limit. LRL is the lowest HR that the PM will permit your heart to have. URL is the HR point where the PM ceases pacing & just tracks what your heart does, waiting for its rate to come back down. The URL keeps the PM from trying to follow an atrial HR that is too high for the ventricles to follow effectively. Your LRL is 60; URL is 130.
DEpendent - tells whether you are dependent on the PM for heart function or if the heart is capable of functioning on its own, however poorly.
AP - Atrial paced - for you 66% of the beats are atrial paced.
AS = Atrial sensed - Not reported for you
VP = Ventricles paced - for you 17% of the ventricle beats are paced
VS = Ventricles sensed - notr reported
All the next info gives info that mainly PM nerds want to know - the electrical characteristics for the two leads. They can tell if the PM is functioning correctly when it does pace you. At this point in your PM life, they look pretty decent. Both leads are in chambers on RIGHT side; IMPEDANCE is a measure of electrical resistance; Thresholds are voltages at which the PM functions & the numbers following the @ symbols are pulse widths measured in Milliseconds.
BSX = Three letter symbol telling you who made the PM - Boston Scientific in your case.
PM's are pretty darned reliable. Most of us NEVER have a situation where they do not function.
You have a good DR. if he told you to come in if it would make you feel better. TAKE HIM UP ON THE OFFER!

DDDR- d = dual, as in atrial and ventricle. r = rate response
lrl/url- 60 is your lower rate, 130 is your upper limit
ap 66% means you are paced atrial 66% of the time
vp is ventricular pacing
When you counted 40, did you use a monitor? Because they are notoriously inaccurate with us. Always count manually when in doubt. It's ok if it's a bit under 60, it won't be exact because it's set to be 1 beat per second so it works out to approximately 60 bpm.
Try to get out of the habit of counting all the time, it will make you crazy! If you feel bad, then count. The rest of the time, I know its' hard but try to resist.
When you go in today, if you tell them what time it happened, they can interrogate the pm and see exactly what was happening when you got 44.
looks like this question is covered

Your blood pressure cuff is probably missing beats. Just like the doc said. Take your pulse manually
You know you're wired when...
You always run anti-virus software.

Saw my Dr and he said don't use the monitor for pulse ,other then that he said my P/M was working fine. So you all answered me with the right answer. Thank you all. AL
