In need of Research -- anyone want to help?

Its been quite a while since I have been on here. A quick run down on me, I had my PM "Sparky" put in on 12/7/11 after a battle with passing out and cardiac arrest... I've had 4 mini strokes since then.. I just had my first baby 5 weeks ago, I suffer from Atrial Fib and Sever POTS Syndrome. I just turned 28, and have been forced to stay home unable to work.

I am now on permanent disability and decided to turn one of my passions into something. So I decided to write a Novel. It is a contemporary romance, I am currently working on revisions with my editor and we are hoping to publish by the end of November if we keep on our deadlines. Of course one of my main characters has Cardiac Issues, how could she not? Well I made her problems much worse than my own, and it helped me cope with what I was dealing with.. Very therapeutic..

Anyway, there is only so much research you can do online.. Do any of you have experience with open heart surgery, valve replacements or any other cardiac issues other than PM's/ICD's? If you do and would like to let me pick your brain, I would greatly appreciate it. I want to make my scenarios as real as possible. Thanks

VM

In Need of Research

It sounds to me as though your own circumstances should be enough to use for your main character. Not sure why you wish for her to have additional cardiac problems. Heck, I'm amazed that you are only 28 and have been through so much! Congratulations for making it through what must have been tough times with having had four mini strokes. I am happy to hear that you were able to deliver a baby five weeks ago. I hope he/she is healthy and keeping you active. Good luck with your research and writing.

I have had 2 open heart surgeries and have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I am an RN and worked in heart/lung transplant. I'm sure I can help. Just send me a pm and ask away.
