Hi from Alaska! I've had my St Jude PM for CRT since Jan 2012. No problems. All checks have been "normal". Last week the PM popped out of the sub-cutaneous pocket and I didn't even think I just pushed it back in. then I panicked and called medical clinic. They saw me later that day & said not to worry -- I have lost weight (quite a bit in the chest/breasts) so if happens several more times I might have to have PM stitched in. Sure was a surprise the first time hope it doesn't happen again!

Hi, Losing weight generally has aggrivated pacemaker sites
I have had this problem with 4 of my implants. Presently I am housing my 6th pacemaker in my lower abdomen & in the 22 years, this is the most comfortable. As I'm way too active and a skinny male & had a top Specialist Surgeon do this last implant. Also, at age 82, I've finally started to gain weight especially around my belly which puts in nice layer of fatty cushion over my pacemaker which is also under muscle. I want to mention also that both my left & right chest sites were no longer suitable for another implant as I also had infection last year. This involved 7 weeks of Vancomycin IV treatment after removal of pacemaker & leads.
Hopefully your present site settles down. If your Dr. decides on sutering, make sure anitbiotics are used as you don't want leads infected also.
Good Luck !! DonB
You know you're wired when...

I have to ask

When the PM "popped out" where did it go? Did it come through the skin or was it still somewhere under the skin but just not in the pocket?
I too have lost weight and my skin has become so thin that the outline of the PM underneath is completely traceable. It's a little uncomfortable sometimes, but it never occurred to me that it could come out!
