......sorry,..no gags this time !
Some interesting UK Cardiac news.
In my area an interesting project has been recently launched...its called Beatitgrantham and is looking to involve Patients, Professionals, Family, Friends etc etc.
The plan is to meet at our local hospital four times a year...there will be Professional presentations and opportunities for all parties to share their own experiences in an informal way.
All this is supported by the Arythmia Alliance and is free to all who wish to get involved.
The 'mastermind' behind this is the smashing Andrew Houghton..my own Cardiologist,..as it happens..
I am excited to be in on a local initiative at its inception..
I'll keep you all informed...meanwhile..look at.

Great idea!

That's brilliant and exactly what's needed. I had a look for any groups round my way (Blackpool) - no luck :(
It's good to know that some professionals are taking a more open and inclusive approach to patient care.
There's clearly a gap, and some are trying to fill it. I've also found the resources (and books) at www.thepad.pm very helpful - another UK professional reaching out.
Let's hope it spreads...

I'm sure with your participation and your positive spirits, you can help more people understand cardiac conditions more.
I recall when I first was diagnosed with AV block, I had no idea what it was. Even in my own mother tongue, I still didn't know what I was reading. I tried to search those hospital/medical sites, but the information is mostly written in cold, professional terms. They didn't really answer all of my questions and they didn't calm me down with the information they posted there, until I found this site.
I have a blog, a Chinese one. I'm writing down my own experience. Hopefully one day, it can be helpful to others too.

Hope you can get participation and positive feedback.
Having someone who has been there and done that will be a great help to others.
My best wishes for you.
Sounds Interesting!

Hello Tattoo Man,
This really sounds like a great group to participate in, you'll be a plus to the group with your warm personality.
I hope you're still jogging, I haven't been on this site lately, I should pop in more often.
I will definitely check out your website.
All the best to you.

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
What a great initiative !

You are very lucky in having a cardiologist like Andrew Houghton who clearly thinks " outside of the box" when it comes to the interface with cardiac patients . Such cardiologists are unfortunately rare.
I see he has also written a book " Making Sense of the ECG " which has had some very enthusiastic write-ups so he seems to be quite a driven individual !
I will mention the Grantham initiative to my cardiologist and try to persuade him to start something similar in my neck of the woods but I'm not holding my breath !
Cheers
