Try this for a Time Line:
Thursday 4pm..... I call my direct number to my Pacemaker technician. I have a slight concern that I have a little bruising around the top pointed part of the lead connector. Fine Mr TM,..can you come in 9am tomorrow ?
Friday 9am I am seen immediately by Lawrence my dedicated Technician. He is not too worried but asks the Registrar on duty for his opinion...I should be just fine but make an appt for two weeks time.
Friday 3pm...Hospital calls back. Lawrence has had a word with Cardiologist Andrew Houghton. Andrew is very thorough, so the call from his Secretary is to ask if I can return for a Consultants view on....
Monday 9am...!!
Anyone who thinks that to get top Cardiac care, here in the UK, you have to pay big-buck insurance is sorely mistaken.
Andrews' Secretary simply said "Mr TM, we like to keep ALL our Cardiac patients happy"
Well, it works for me !!

cardiac care
by Hope - 2012-11-02 06:11:52
Hi! We are so fortunate to have quality care, Ian. I do think one has to do his/her homework, so to speak, to have quality care. However, my heart breaks when I read postings of conscientious heart patients' struggles for quality care. For my scheduled checkups, I go to the pacemaker lab fisrt, routine workup next and then, the cardiologist, all in one place. If I felt I had an urgent issue, I would be worked in the same day, and all phone calls are promptly responded to. I wish this for all patients. Please don't give up if your care is less than it should be. When we accept less, we get less and less. Smile and have a happy weekend everyone. Hopeful Heart
Cabg, Hope....and all you fab Guys....
by Tattoo Man - 2012-11-02 07:11:23
......Hope,...and you know that I really think that you are fab.
IAN and I ..SO often mistaken..here's how to tell us apart :
IAN is much taller than me and always stands to my left..( he says , that means he is nearer the exit door )
We are identical twins, born 11 years apart..in itself,. not a problem..( except at customs )
IAN exudes a wierd greenish-bluish hue..whereas,..I ,..having not a single tattoo on my body,. am as pinkish-blotchy as the day I was spawned
IAN is really clever..I am the dumb one..think Abbot and Costello..er...Sonny and Cher..
IAN is Cher..fully the most smart of the duo
Voila !!...Easy,.Eh ??
TM.xx...(.thats for you Hope.).just smashing to see you here

Tatoo Man, If everyone could master forgiveness with your sense of humor, the world would be a much happier place. Thanks. Hopeful Heart

I Concur

Yes, I concur with you TM our NHS is simply the best as Tina would say.
A month ago I went for my interrogation, and the Tec altered something to extend the battery life, but when I got home I thought that I had a pneumatic drill in my chest, I gave the clinic a call and they said come in anytime you want, I went the next day and the Tec new what it was that was causing the problem and all was fine, he said, any more problems just give us call and let us know you are coming in. You cant get better service than that can you??.
Best -Len
Beware !
by IAN MC - 2012-11-03 06:11:34
There are sinister forces at work on this forum :--
-- I get Private Messages with no E-mails to warn me in advance
-- Hope is replying to my messages , even before I have sent them
-- Cabg Patch seems to think that Mitt is sending posts
( nothing would surprise me in the run up to your election }
-- Certain persons out in Cyber Land are claiming to be my twin brother . Is this a scam to claim cash from my estate
when I depart this life and go to the great PM club in the sky ?
-- I think Blake or Admin should look into this .I believe that the PM software is riddled with viruses.......... and another thing, are Admin and Blake the same person .... twin brothers perhaps ??
Cheers
Ian
PS ... that apart, I'm delighted that the full force of the NHS is on to your case Tattoo Man . I, too, cannot fault in any way the level of cardiac care which I have received.

Hi Tattoo Man,
Please let us know how your follow up visit went on Monday.

Mondays News..
by Tattoo Man - 2012-11-05 08:11:03
....Casper asked if I would get back regarding my Hospital visit this morning. I was seen by Dr Arthur at Lincoln, he spent some time examining and ( just as importantly ) asking me questions..+ Listening and Explaining.
I have a review booked in three weeks ,..the doctor made it clear that the last thing we all needed was for the PM to break through the skin,..but that avoiding a repositioning Op was also desirable.
So, no concrete news as such, but I continue to be more than happy with the NHS and all that it does that our rubbish tabloid press consistently overlooks.
Rant over !
My thoughts go out to you Arabella, and importantly,...to your husband...I'm sure he has all the good will that PMC can send him. I wish you both well
My thanks to those who have posted...also thanks to the 319 who have read , as I write this posting. I'm sure that there are 300 unique stories behind each' read'
My best wishes to all in PMC

NHS is great
by Janey L - 2012-11-08 05:11:35
Just wanted to add that I too find the NHS great. I go to a London hospital for all my cardiac care.
My EP is great, sorts things out quickly & very professionally. He also has an excellent bedside manner, which counts for a lot.
His secretary is brilliant & always helps with queries speedily & efficiently.
The PM clinic has great staff, particularly the more Senior ones.
I have an arrythmia nurse who has looked after me for 3 years & has been great.
Just this week I had an allergic reaction to the Clopidogrel I was put on post ablation 2 weeks ago. I rang the hospital & they sorted everything out in a few hours (pharmacy-nurse practioner-EP's team). I am now on aspirin with Omeprazole cover & doing just fine.
My GP is brilliant too.
What more can I say!
Best wishes
Janey
You know you're wired when...
You need to be re-booted each morning.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
oops!

I am very sorry Tatoo Man. I just realized what I did. You all have so much fun going back and forth, I get confused sometime who is saying what. A little tired to concentrate right now. Please forgive my error. Hopeful Heart
