Follow up after R.I.P.P.E.D. class

I saw my EP and he made some adjustments to the sensitivity settings. I've tested it now a few times after going to the gym and I believe it has helped. The fatigue has lessened too. He also raised my Upper Tracking Limit from 150 to 165.

The interrogation revealed some interesting information. I had 8 "events" during the 1 hour period the night I took the class. The highest recorded during that hour was 217 which lasted 8 seconds. My ICD is set to shock at 220!! I was really lucky.

So......that's it for trying anymore of those classes, I can't chance it. I have to try and keep it under 155 or so. I have not been shocked in 5 years since having an ICD and would like to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, my Endocrinologist (probably former) is pushing me to lose more weight and exercise harder. This coming from a guy who probably weighs 120 lbs. soaking wet!

It doesn't matter that my A1C is good, 5.7 .....or my cholesterol went down about 30 points, not an easy task since I don't eat much meat or animal products anymore or that I have a painful hip......nope, he said I need to exercise more "aggressively".

My Cardio wants me to wear a holter monitor for 24 hours because my Polar HR monitor recorded over 200 again after the adjustments and exercise last week.

So a little bump in the road. Just an update......I should know more in a few weeks.

Hello Grateful Heart.

I always enjoy reading your comments and was sorry to see that you're experiencing problems. My heart rate was naturally fast (prior to PM). I was always the skinny young woman that couldn't leave aerobics class because my HR was 220!

What were your 8 "events" after exercising? I need to get on the elliptical machine and see if anything happens before my next appointment. Not that I want it to, of course. But if I'm going to have an event, I want to have it BEFORE my next checkup.

Do you see an Endo for thyroid? If you're hypo, it's sooo hard to lose weight.

Keep us posted.

Really lucky

You are right...you were very lucky. Eight events in one hour is no joke and especially one that close to the big zap!! Glad to hear that you are going to take the precautions necessary to keep things in check.

Isn't it always the skinny ones who think it is so easy?

Good luck Grateful Heart and let us know the update in a few weeks.

Hope

You are okay. That's a little too close for comfort. More important to be safe than to be ripped.

I'm fine, thanks

Just not gonna do that anymore.

Niecey: The 8 events were all during the class....in the high 100's and that one over 200.

My thyroid checks out fine, the Endo is for type 2 diabetes but it has been diet controlled since shortly after they told me I had it, also about 5 years ago. So I think I will just monitor myself for a while. I'm really doing that anyway.

Marie: I know, maybe he was just having a bad day that day....I dunno, I was very surprised because he didn't let up about it. I tried kicking my exercising up a notch by taking that class.....and look where that got me. Not looking to get the "big zap" over it.....LOL.

Bossy: Too close for comfort indeed! My Guardian Angel was watching out for me.

Strange thing is, I went to the gym today and only did the weight machines....no aerobics....and my HR monitor recorded 194 as the high rate at the end of the workout. So I'm not liking that...we'll see.

Hope you are all well.
