Think I have the flu

Feeling really bad for days now. All the usual symptoms, fever, chills, headache, congestion. I don't know what I can or can't take so I'm only taking NyQuil at night...gotta try to sleep and breathe. I don't think I am supposed to take nsaids except for the daily aspirin.

Any suggestions for the flu. I was trying to stay hydrated with chicken soup. Waayy too much sodium for me....makes me feel worse.

Feel Better!

Hope you get to feeling better soon grateful heart! that flu that's going around is nasty stuff. If you don't feel better within a couple of days, or gets really bad, I would check with your dr.

Can you get to urgent care and get a script for this ? Neilmed sinus rinse is helpful for congestion. You also need to be checked for a secondary bronchitis or pneumonia. My sympathies, got diagnosed with flu and bronchitis Friday. Perfect way to top off a week with a torn ligament, managing my patients from a wheelchair, the heat going out after traveling 12 hours, a leaky washer, and bitter cold temps.
Hope you feel better soon.
I would tell you to push fluids but not sure if you have any heart failure. Not a good idea in that case.

Soup

Hope you feel better soon!

You may not be up to it right now, but keep in mind when you feel better that homemade chicken (beef, whatever) broth is SO much better for you, no sodium, and it has good stuff to help fight infection that canned does not. Whenever I make any meat with a decent amount of bone, or get a rotisserie chicken at the deli, I add some onion, celery, carrot to the pot with bones, cover with water and cook either on low or in the crock pot overnight. Strain, chill to remove the fat, and you have the stuff grandma used to swear by. I freeze it so I always have some on hand. Add meat and veggies, instant soup.

Pedialyte and gatorade are full of sugar, dyes and chemicals. Not what your body needs! Water, herbal tea, coconut water.

Bostonstrong, geez!!!! Hope things turn around for you soon. You are on a roll, and not in a good way. {{{hugs}}}

Sounds yucky

by jeanlancour - 2014-01-26 11:01:26

Have you tried hot lemon water with a touch of honey, real lemons work best. Always makes my head, throat and chest feel better. Tracy's broth sounds good, good old fashion chicken soup is always good for what ails you. Boston sounds like you need someone to come in and make soup for you too. Take care of yourself.

I hope you feel better

Feeling better. I haven't been that sick in a very long time. It even hurt my eyes to look towards the sunlight. Just a bad yucky cold now.

I did run out of home made soup Tracey. Gotta make some more and freeze it. Boston, I'll send you some....hope you feel better too.

Still have no appetite so there is a plus side. :o)
