I remember tubes and transistors...But I think I made a mistake about giving my real age...what was I thinking!

I remember the Flintstones

That was a great cartoon. Are they still on? Uh oh, I'm dating myself again.

The same thought has often crossed my mind. When I read a post from these oldies asking " When is it safe to exercise ? " ; I'm always tempted to reply '" As you are 142 years old , it is probably best to take it easy ! "

This thread could reduce itself

to a current version of the "Flintstones"! W/ this bunch of people w/ whacked our senses of humor, I can see it coming!

Grate: I've known your real age for a long time - you cannot hide it from Old Fahrts, like me - & Ian...

About all the people who had an implant in 1950.

That's before transistors - tubes were still king, even though invented in about 1947, & storage media was tape. Those PM's must have been humongous & heavy w/ the big lantern batteries they would require. Then there would be the tape drive mechanism for storing data.

Could not have been internal - probably carried around in a backpack w/ a cable running over your shoulder to the subclavian vein. At least downloading was a snap - the tech just exchanged reels of tape on your back.

They saved a lot of money on jackets in winter. The heat from the tubes kept them warm. Summer in Fla was a real pill, however.

Ah, those were the days!

Ok, now I have to ask

by Grateful Heart - 2012-11-06 12:11:23

Is 1870 a default year of birth or is everyone really choosing that year? Still just wondering??

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
