coughing when checked
by gardener - 2012-12-30 04:12:04
I cough when my pm is being checked at the hospital and they do certain tests during the checking. This has happened since it was implanted. I am now wondering if I cough when it kicks in too. Although I am told it is pacing all the time.
You take care too

I have the same problem. It happens most during pm interrogation. I feel like skipped beats followed by a sudden cough. I also cough a lot when the pm paces or i have pvcs. My dr told me its ok as its the cough that stops the weird fwwling/pvcs. Why they happen simultnsly i still dont know. But i think its nothing worth worrying.

coughing when pacing rare
by lowtemp - 2014-02-08 07:02:46
I have had a few problems with my pacemaker this is one. Coughing when pacing is a very rare condition. But rare or not I am one who starts coughing when I pace. My doctor said it is very rare and I am one of the few "lucky ones" that has this condition. Something about the diaphragm I was told ....it is what it is...This is my second pacemaker first one I had problems with it calibrating all through the day and they had to remove it. It also caused blood to back up into my neck...The E/R doctors thought I was crazy and had never heard of this....Thankfully my surgeon did...Both are metronics and it has been 8 years since my first one. Metronics recalled the one I have now for battery issues. My problem now besides having bradycardia and pacemaker syndrome is I was let go from my job after 27 years and no one wants to hire me because of the pacemaker..why you ask because their health insurance pools....I am sure people here understand what I am taking about. Discrimination you say...I can't prove it..It is what it is.

I have had the same thing and the last time i was at the heart Dr they were testing me for over a hour as im having problems... The couthing was so bad and my husband told him this has been going on since the Pm and in fact if i do a lot off fast walking and stuff... or If im getting it checked out with the medtronics machine my coughing kicks in sooooo bad.. The Dr had no idea and said he has never heard off it before, sorry to say this but its nice to know im not the only one..
