I need help please. I have just noticed that when I bend down to pick up something, my pacemaker hangs down. I have to push it back in place. Sometime It is very sore.

Talk to EP

Since it's Friday, you'll have to wait until Monday to talk to someone. But I definitely would talk to your EP on Monday and get it looked at ASAP. If it's flopping around that much it could be a problem.

If you're really concerned you could take a trip to the ER over the weekend. But I doubt they'll do anything before next week.

Just the same, get it looked at.

Thank you so much. I was wondering, I figured that it should not be this sore.

Thanks. Yes it is like something hanging on a thread.

Lende, I have had my PM four years and while it stays in place pretty much, the area gets sore. I can only sleep on my right side propped with a pillow. The cardiologist who put my PM in moved away shortly thereafter so I found a new more experienced one. He said with women the PM should be placed under the breast tissue so it can't move around and is not uncomfortable. Some cardiologists who are not that experienced are afraid to put it in that deep because it takes more surgical expertise. Whenever my battery is used up - showing 8 years left as of now - I will have it put deeper. I am almost 75 now so I hope to be alive that long. You definitely can't continue like you are. Perhaps you need a better doctor.

Best to you in getting this problem taken care of quickly.

Thanks for this information. My pm is in the upper left chest under my collar bone almost next to my under arm. I am scheduled to see my cardiologist who put in the pacemaker on this Thursday. Hoping that I will not have to go through another surgery as my husband is having surgery soon for a blocked artery. Need my strength to help him recuperate. I am almost 65 and my husband is 87. I never heard of pm being under the breast tissue. I will definitely ask him about this.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
