Using a WII

I have a Guidant 1290 pacemaker... With my grandchildren having the new wii electronic game I had heard that it may interfear with my pacemaker.. Has anyone else heard of this??? My Senior Center is thinking of getting a wii...

Thanks in advance.... Patti

Please let us know how it goes and if you enjoy it.

I'm toying with the idea of getting one but am not sure if the "fitness" is any better than just getting out and walking.

Thanks.

I feel fabulous!

WII

We purchased a WII about 1 month ago, and I have used it with no problem at all. The owners manual warns to keep the remote 7 inches from your pacemaker site. I called my manufacturer (Medtronic) just to make sure and they said it was perfectly fine to use even within the 7 inches.

source of positive addiction

I've used the "Wii Fit" at my son's house and love it...because one of the balance games calculates your body age based on your score - and it recorded me as 20 younger than I am. What a boost to the ego!

All the programs on there are excellent (meaning, I work up a sweat) and although I only play when I visit (no problems with the pm either) his two kids use it daily and record their fitness scores - so it is very motivating and a source of "positive" addiction.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
