It's been a while...

Hi fellow Pacers,

It's been a while since I posted on here and whilst I keep a look out most days I have been very quiet. I had my ICD implanted around 18 months ago (cannot believe it had now been that long!) for obstructive cardiomyopathy - like every everyone else, a life changing event which I'll never forget. The good news is guys, life doesn't need to stop. Naturally, there are many diagnoses on here, and many conditions which effect each and everyone of us differently but if we all stay positive and think strong, we don't need to think its all doom and gloom. Whether its a gentle stroll, playing with the gran kids, a round of golf - out little friends in general can improve our lives. Don't get me wrong, the last 18 months have tried and tested me to the limit, depression, hospital stays, visits, procedures.... You name it! But guess what, we love to see another beautiful day. The reason for my post is whilst out cycling yesterday I bumped into another fellow cyclist who had a pacemaker for sick sinus - he was 76!!!! And a veteran of his pacemaker for 17 years! Now I know some people have harrowing stories, some people are worse affected than others... But embrace life folks as the stark reminder to us all is we get one shot! Sueuk, tattoo man, Don R, electric Frank... Hope your all doing well... Keep the positivity everyone, you lot are bloody inspiring!
Darren

Hi Sue,

Lovey to hear from u. How are you? Keeping well? Things have been up and down In general, some bad days and moments but learning to cope with everything now. My ICD fired in August, second time this year and whilst its frightening, it's there to do its job which is cool! My little dog (Oscar) was one last week - it's mental as time is literally flying in. What about you, what's your latest? If I remember right we were in recovery around the same time?!.. June 11?

I'm really trying to love by the mantra "only get one shot" so it's keeps me sane if anything else!

Hey Darren !
