Table Mountain???

Morning, from a sunny UK !
Just thinking about my holiday (still 3mths away but...............)
We are off to S Africa again & my partner would like me to go up Table Mountain with him (obviously not climbing) as he has been & the views are pretty spectacular.
Would there be a problem do you think? l am sure my little metal buddy would be fine but my heart isn't the most healthy specimen due to replacement valve, Afib 100% of the time & there were "mutterings" when l had my echo done a few weeks ago about my triscupid valve having moderate regurgitation???
not seen my cardio' since then so l am not sure if it is an issue.
Just wondered what my buddies on the site thought?
Hope the sun is shining where you are :-)

Hi Sue I can't think why going up Table Mountain should cause any problems . Last time I was in Cape Town I walked up one of the footpaths to the top and that was OK but I assume that you would take the aerial cable-car which whisks you up before you have time to say "A glass of Chenin Blanc please "

There is a good restaurant at the top and the views are great. It really isn't very high so there would be no issues whatsoever caused by height. Enjoy it Sue , it is a great country.

NO, IAN, NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

That is completely the wrong answer...............................l needed you to say "No Sue don't do it "
I dont like heights much & l know its oh so wrong but l was sort of using my health as an excuse l suppose.
Then l was going to show Neil (my partner) all the comments saying "NO you must not do that" but you of all people have let me down big time.......................&
l thought our time in the shed meant something to you, how wrong was l???......................:-(

Sue, I was lying to you !

.... ah , those times in the shed , they certainly beat climbing a mountain.

Whatever you do, don't do it ! There is a definite danger that the ascent in the cable car could cure your a fib and then you wouldn't get any sympathy from anybody .

If you don't like heights, that could be a real problem because the bar stools in the restaurant at the top are quite high . so for the last time :-

DON'T DO IT !!!

Happy now ? ... see you later, usual place.

AH, the lies we tell...

...jump up to bite us on the bum!

This is a morality play in real life - see, you shoulda told the truth about fear of heights.

Being a fellow acrophobe (who has never been in the shed w/ you because I live on another continent), I commiserate w/ you.

Fear of heights is a terrible thing to suffer. Once upon a time, I started to cross a large suspension bridge across the Mississippi River down the center of the US (that I crossed twice a day for several yrs going to & from work) & suddenly became petrified by fear & paralyzed to the point I could not drive & had to pull over & stop on the shoulder of the road.

I called my wife on my cell phone & she & our Son came to get me.

See - isn't that a good enough REASON to decline - or at least defer till you could see the cable car up the mountain - before making a decision?

In this case, I have empathy for you. No sympathy - that means nothing compared to empathy.

Enjoy your trip up Table Mountain.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
