I had to have aa ablation and 2 weeks had to have a pacemaker put in due to my doctor burning out to much of the sinus node but I also knew the risk. Hope all is well with you.

Yes it happened to me . It is a small but well known risk of having an ablation and it is mentioned in all the blurb which you sign before the op. Altering the electrical pathways of the heart does carry risks !

In my case I had to have the PM fitted less than 3 weeks after the ablation.... which I wasn't expecting !

If I could wind the clock back, would I still have had the ablation ? Yes, I would !

Cheers

Unintended result of my ablation, but I had WPW as well as constant SVT. The accessory reentry pathway was very close to my AV node - understood that partial AV node ablation may occur.

To echo what Ian said, I would absolutely do it again as I feel better now compared to pre-ablation and pre-PM.

Best of luck to you.

Just like Ian - had the ablation for SVT, unfortunately the AV node was damaged and went into third degree heart block. PM implanted the next day.

Like the others, I would still do the same thing.

Thanks all for the input I was told when I had my ablation that there was a fifty fifty chance I would need a pacemaker but in my mind I thought I wasn't going to need one I was surprised but like you said I would not turn the clock back either I just wanted to see if anyone else needed a pacer after there ablation

Yes, I had an AV node ablation

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
