CRT-D firing off today

Well, it did the job on me today. First time it fired off. Been feeling bad the last couple days with a cold. Lite headed, I tried to get up and go to the bathroom. Didn't make it. I passed out cold. My wife got me up into the lounge chair and I was having a very hard time breathing. She called 911. They got to my house in a couple minutes. Well they had me hooked up to a EKG and was working on me. All at once, the CRT-D fired. Really wasn't what I expected. The tech was over me and he even saw that it hit me.

They rushed me to the hospital. Blood work done and I had no heart attack. They did call my transplant team. I was told if it fires off again, I will have to go to New Orleans.

I'm still hurting even after a few shots of morphine. Now I back home waiting to watch the LSU baseball game.

Take care all,
Paul

You can't catch a break can you. On the bright side, it is good your CRT-D was there when you needed it. Thank God for the first responders.

Continued Prayers for you and your family and your Transplant Team.

CRT-D

It's a three lead pacemaker with a defibulator built in it. The pacemaker paces the Left V in my heart more then the right side. I'm paced 100% of the time.

Thanks all. And yes, LSU won. they will be going to the play offs. I kind of missed parts of the game due to falling asleep, but woke up at the start of the 9th ending.

Sunday was a bed rest day. Sofar, today I made it to the lounge chair. Every time I get to moving, I start feeling a burning across my upper chest to my arms. This all started Saturday. Never had this feeling before. Oh well, never a duel moment.

I should call my doctors, but will just wait till tomorrow for when my nurse comes.

Take care all and God Bless,
Paul

I know my opinion isnt worth much but I have to stick my two cents in. With the symptoms you are having, I dont think you should wait until tomorrow when your nurse comes. Other than that, I sure am glad your defibulator kicked in. Is this the first time it has shocked you? Mine has never fired yet.

Hi Paul,
Seems u hv good reason to be grateful for the way things hv turned out. my best wishes for their continuing in the same vein.

However, could I trouble u totell me briefly what exactly CRT-D stands for. Am asking as it's not include in the list of abbreviations on the web-site. Thanks.

Yes, first time. But it didn't really kick me like I though it would. I was laying up in a lounge chair, so I really don't know if that help or not.

Well, I did ruff it thru yesterday staying in bed the better part of the day. I woke up at 2am hurting a lot. Had to hit the nitro and some morphine. Also had to hit it yesterday a few times. I'm a bit better now. I'm sure I will be going in the hospital today once my nurse comes.

My problem now is that my blood pressure is swinging all day. One hour it is great,(125/74) and the next it will shoot up to the 150's/90's for no reason. The biggest problem is my pulse. That has been running in the 100+ at rest. The higher it gets the worse I feel. This is something new to me. So I really don't know what is going on.

Take care,
Paul
