Feeling a bit better today after running a high fever on and off the last 3 days. Yesterday, they pulled the hickman and got back some of the test that showed a couple infections. They been pumping a bunch of meds into me around the clock.
This morning I felt good enough to get out the bed. Even went for a very short walk. So, I guess I heading in the right direction.
Future treatments. No more hickmans! They will be starting to wing me off the dobutamine later today. That should take 3 days. Once I get out and go back home, I will be going to a local hospital once a week for blood test and have a dobutamine IV drip done. This will help me somewhat to feel better.
Anyway, I still don't know what there plans are for me in the future if I will move up the transplant line or not.
Take care and God Bless,
Paul

Good afternoon, Paul. Glad you got some attention
for the infection. Hopefully, the new treatment direction will help you avoid the debilitating infections. Take care and have a safe trip home when they release you. Hopeful Heart
Thanks

It's been touch and go. My transplant team said it is best I don't put a hickman in. I already made my mine up of not going back with one. I went thru 5 of them in 16 months with only the first to last 7 months and no trouble.
At this point, the doctors are afraid that an infection will kill me first. Only problem is that when I get off the dobutamine, I start to feel bad all the time. That is when one of the doctors said they could IV me a dose once a week. I will be planning on that on Fridays. LOL
Another problem came up last week. Went to get my drivers lic renewed, had to have my team fill out a paper for that. Thank God they did after talking with the wife. They just wanted to make sure I don't drive when I don't feel good, which I don't.
Yesterday, was 2 years with a CRT-D and yesterday was the first time it kicked the crap out of me. That hurts. The first time, it hit me 10 times. All due to fever induced chills that got mu heart rate above 160bpm. I went thru 3 rounds of that to were they knocked me out.
Thanks again everybody, Paul

that is good then for you you have some hope. still will pray and send good vibes your way paul. next week we begin the tests and then a week form monday my husband will undergo an angiogram to see if anything can be done to help him. his heart itself is in good shape. it is the vessels too and from that are not. he is what they called chronically occluded. the one or two lines they were last able to open a few years ago are plugging up again. it is hard to watch him. jessie

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!

a step in the right direction, even if a small one. All the best of wishes/hopes/prayers, whatever works for you.
