It's a mad house down here in Louiaiana with the superbowl and the start of Mardi Gras.
Great weather to get out, so the family and I will be heading to New Orleans for the weekend.
I been down and out the last couple weeks, fighting a head cold, but feeling a bit better. I did have one bout with extra fluid, but got that under control after 3 days of extra meds. Of course they wanted to put me back in the hospital, but I had enough of that. I also am having a problem with my hickman. It is starting to plug up. Yep, they want to put me in the hospital for that, but just not going to happen. Told them as long as I can still flush it, I hope to make it to the 15 when my next appointment is.
I'm still stressing out on insurance. I did get a Medicare card in that starts the first of May. But the problem there is that I have to have a extra insurance to help cover what Medicare will not cover. I been told to look at plan "F". I did, but am still lost. Problem is that were I live and how these plans work, they cover X amount of area. Of course the Transplant center is out of covered areas..
If it is not one thing, it's another.
Cathy, I hope you are doing good. Hope your testing is moving along. By now, I sure you don't have much blood left. LOL Oh, the nut doctors do make me LOL.
Take care and God Bless all, Paul

Good to see a post from you, Fishfighter. Hope you can enjoy your weekend in New Orleans. Be good to yourself so you can stay out of the hospital. Have not been to Mardi Gras since 1968. Was teaching in Biloxi at the time. Got married that June and moved away from my beloved FL Gulf of Mexico for many years. I am happy to be close again. Hope we hear from you again soon. Hopeful Heart

Call your hospital ask to talk to social services, ask them about the plans that hospital accepts. Usually they are happy to help you as they want to be paid. Once you find someone to talk, ask the other questions, like how much they pay, and how much that plan costs, does it have med plan etc, Good luck Jean
ps Have a good safe time in New Orleans, Would you like company? I'm strickly a northern person but loved New Orleans in the winter time.

Just wanted to respond to your ins question about medicare supplement, plan f is a good plan usually covers the 20% and the ded so therefore you should not be billed for anything.I have worked in medical billing for 40 years, a lot of changes coming for 2014 that all hospitals are getting updates on. I would caution you to never go with any HMO, but if you do make sure that your Dr and hospital are in network and will cover your procedures. Good luck to you.
