Jean & All. Pacemaker is out.

Hi everyone. Quick message. I'm almost 24 he post op extraction of "Lucky". Site was "cleaned up" wound left open and "packed"
Site must be unpacked and flushed then re packed (dry) 3x daily which is the worst pain I have ever felt even with all the drugs I can take. Thanks for all the support. It is the bright spot in my day. More when able.

..........................I feel for you...a 'box rip-out' is no fun, but loads better than crappy infections..

You are in the right place and hopefully being well looked after..like so many testing things in life...you will look back after a while and remind yourself that it was all worthwhile.

What do they say...?

Keep us all posted.

Best wishes from the UK

Hi Jennie

I am back now and was really glad to see your message - (Thanks for putting in the Jean bit as I wasn't sure where to look).

Firstly you must feel relieved to have your box out and the infection being sorted. Sorry to hear about the pain you have to go through with the packing, my husband is a G.P. and he feels for you. Do you know when they will give you your new implant?

My bruising is going down although there is a bit of an indentation where the old pacemaker was and some redness where my infection was, but I'm sure it will sort itself out in time.

Jennie - you are a brave lady, sending you a hug x

Tomorrow (Tuesday) I have surgery to close extrication wound. Thursday I will have the new device implanted. I am anxious to move forward with recovery. The open would packing is very painful yet necessary. I will be relieved when I no longer have to endure that. Plus, I am without pacing until Thursday. My hr has slowed even more since my initial implant 11weeks ago. Hr stays in 40s mostly with some 30s and at least one 29 I saw on monitor. I am glad to be in the hospital.
I hope everyone is well, staying strong and positive. We will survive these issues. Better days ahead. Take care Jean. I will post soon.
