Hi everyone. I'm on my way to the hospital where my first pacemaker of 10 weeks "Lucky" ....(probably not the best name...). will be extracted. I have battled an infection since implant and its time to go. I will be treated in the hospital and when I am cleared will have new device implanted on right side.
So wish me well and my best to all of you and thank you for your
postings as we all take something away from them. Support,
Empathy, humor, and much more. I take it all with me in my
heart as I make this journey again way to soon. Talk to you when I am able. Thanks specially to you Jean.
Minnesota.

I've checked the time in Minnesota (if that's where you are) & it's 9.30 am. Here, it's 15.30 pm. For some reason I thought you were ahead. I have no sense of direction, so you're probably having all your checks done now.
Oh, Minnesota

......well, I hope you have had a restful night after your op and can breathe a sigh of relief. Awful for you to go through this so soon after your implant.
We are going off for four days now and although I am a technophobe I will borrow a laptop to see how you are progressing when I can.
In the meantime, thoughts are with you and hope your new box will soon be in.
How's the food? Take care Jennie x

Sorry about the infection...If I were you...I would demand that they use a TY-RX bad on the new implant. It's a pouch that the pacemaker goes in that is soaked in anti-bacterial solutions. It lowers risk of infection dramatically.
Now...the hospital may tell you they don't use them...it's a lie. They can use anything they want. The problem is that medicare doesn't reimburse for them yet and they are being cheap. Seeing as you already have had 1 infection, you are a "high risk" patient.
Demand it...I wouldn't let them put a 1st device in me without it.
You know you're wired when...
You play MP3 files on your pacer.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.

For You !! Ypup, it's all too fresh in my mind. Naturally wondering if you'll be on an Antibiotic IV regimen ? Thinking you might get by with oral medication unless leads show infection. Actually I was very fortunate having all those weeks of IVs' as oral meds would not have been the best for me in my condition.
I want to mention also that if you get put on IVs' you may have a picc line put in your arm which is no big deal. A word of advice is keep watch when an IV is removed from the picc line that the nurse does a flush each & every time immediately. I did get some clotting & have been put on Xeralto (blood thinner) as an ultrasound showed blood cloting in my vein. After all my weeks of care I'm doing great but still on precaution taking blood thinner yet for some time. Thoughts & Prayers are with you. Hopefully your stay is "short & sweet".
