Injury to PM site follow up

Hi all. I managed to injure my pectoral muscle under PM at 4 wks PO. I promised to report back how it is going. I saw my PM clinic yesterday for a check and Everything is A-OK with PM. That is great news. After injury I thought it wasn't functioning properly as I had some relapse of shortness of breath and some night episodes of waking from shortage of O2. That only lasted a couple days though. Lots of pain and swelling in PM site and entire pec area from armpit to breast bone. I was seen by a cardiac nurse practitioner for the injury who didn't examine me only told me I likely strained my muscle. I should use Advil and ice and see how it goes for a few weeks (more). If it is still painful I should see an orthopedic doc. I am extrememly grateful my PM was not affected. I hope the injury will improve with time. Thus far, at 2 1/2 weeks, it has not. Feel like I have lots of support out there. Thanks everyone.

I've been a member here for almost 8 years now but did take a leave of absence because of a lot of deaths in the last 2 yrs that left me pretty down. But I'm back now and your issue interested me - after you injured your PM area, what kind of tests (if any) did they do?

I am originally from Minnesota - born there in 1962 - Methodist Hospital and my twin sister still lives there in Bloomington. I was just there for a visit in late May/early June when it was really really really cold, but we had fun.

I guess what I am asking is: did you have any Xrays or even a CT Scan to make sure everything was okay (including your leads).????

Private message me if you would as I may forget to come back to this particular post. Like I said, I'm just getting back into the swing of things and as a Moderator of this wonderful site, I sometimes have a lot of reading to do and wouldn't wanna miss your reply.

An injured muscle can hurt for quite a while, been there - done that, but I'm also the type that has to be sure (or be convinced I guess) that the medical team has checked everything so there are no surprises down the road.

Did your doctor even suggest physical therapy???

Thanks for your message former Minnesotan! had X-rays to check pm and leads. All a-ok. No PT was ordered but I might call and request. My pectoral injury is going to take time to heal. I have a question for you. I notice my scar and surrounding area has reddened quite a lot since in the last 2 weeks. It isn't infected just very red. Skin looks inflamed. I wonder if its from using my arm now that restrictions are off. Do you have any advice or experience with this? Nice to hear from you. Take care.
