I just got my pacemaker 2 days ago and am 21 years old. Monday the 24th in the evening i started an antibiotic for a chest cough and drs wanted to clear anything up before surgery. On Tuesday i noticed clear sticky fluid leaking not much at all but i figured it was the meds. Today was the first time seeing my chest but i noticed my left side much fuller and not sure if its the meds or really swollen from surgery or something else

I was swollen after surgery, also. If the it keeps draining, the drainage is anything but clear, you see more redness or streaks, you get a fever, then call the dr immediately. Or if you are in doubt, it's always better to call. Better to have them tell you it's nothing than tough it out when it's something.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.

Hi Sugarbunny, I have had 2 PM's and had little to no swelling with the first one but with the 2nd one, I was swollen pretty much on my whole upper left side. My left breast was 2 or 3 times bigger than the right! That was bizzare looking. I got concerned and had it checked out. They had me ice it every 4 hrs or something like that. I'm not telling you to do that, just letting you know what my situation was.
If you are concerned how it looks or it's draining fluid, call your doctor or maybe a 24 hr nurse help line.
Take care and good luck, Cathy
