Heart Transplant

Well, I can no longer be in denial! This coming Wednesday, I start the testing process to get on the heart transplant list. I knew the time was coming but in the back of my mind kept thinking, well maybe it wont happen.

There are 19 steps in the process of testing to go through so I am not sure how long the whole process takes. I am thnking it will take a few months to get through it all.

They have to be very thorough from head to toe to make sure they aren't giving someone a new heart that may have an undetected illness that would jeopardize their recovery.

I know there are a few other members on this site awaiting heart transplant and some who may need it in the future.

I am 17 and have always been told this might be what I need someday. I will keep you in my thoughts, and if this happens to me in the future, I'd love to hear what the process is. You are in my prayers.

The prescreen is a pain in the backside. By now, they should of took a couple gallons of blood. If I remenber, around 20 tubes.

Of course, a colonsopy. Got to love that. Then xrays from head to toe and back.

More blood work.

Then seeing a nut doctor a bunch of times to see if you are nuts.

More blood work.

Then they will go in two or three times to check your numbers.

More quack doctors.

More blood work.

Start checking your background.

More blood work.

Start checking your bank acc and everything you own.

More blood work/ screening for the big C again. More xrays/CT's.

More blood work.

I don't think I have any blood left in me and they still stick me once a week for more blood. LOL

Good luck and be brave. It's a long road and many things can happen.

God Bless, Paul

Thanks Paul

You gave me a good laugh at how you explain the process. Especially, "seeing the nut doctor to see if you are nuts."
Take care, Cathy

Thanks Franko
