A good result!

Hi All
Further to my post last night, I have had a great response from my EP today & am feeling much better about things.

Here in the UK it is not the done thing to contact your EP direct, you usually have to go through their secretary. But I was SO upset about yesterday that this morning I decided I would e-mail him directly. Fortunately I have his e-mail address.

So I sent him an e-mail & told him the lot! I said that I was so upset at the way I'd been spoken to & treated that I almost walked out of the waiting room, never to return. I reminded him of the 3 occasions I was told my PM check was fine & it turned out there were problems he had to sort out. I told him the name of the person I'd seen yesterday.

Within 30 minutes I had an e-mail from him! He never usually responds to e-mails directly, he too would go through his secretary. I was very impressed at the speed of his response & the fact he was taking the matter seriously.

He agreed about 3 previous PM checks having been normal when it turned out there were problems. For that reason he believes me when I tell him I don't feel well, despite the PM check being OK yesterday. So he has organised a treadmill exercise test ASAP, as my latest symptoms are breathlessness on exertion. I feel fine at rest but as soon as I start walking or climbing stairs, the breathlessness comes on. I've had similar symptoms in the past & it turned out to be from an accelerated rhythm that only came on with exertion (PM check that time was also normal).

The treadmill test is being done next Tuesday.

He also understood all my other points in my e-mail. So much so that he sent it to the pacing tech I saw yesterday, so she could see how much she had upset me.

Amazingly, in less than an hour, I then received an e-mail from her apologising for upsetting me yesterday!! She sent a copy of her apology to my EP (I could see that on my e-mail, she had put his e-mail address on it too).

All in all, a good result. I'm SO pleased I was brave enough to e-mail my EP directly & really impressed at his response. He sorted everything out.

As I said yesterday, he has always been excellent.

Hubby is improving each day. He still has bad headaches from concussion but is back at work. He had no memory for 24 hours but it came back the next day. Our GP has told me to watch out for symptoms of a brain bleed for up to 3 weeks post accident (it's 2 weeks tomorrow).

I did tell the trauma Dr's about hubby having heart symptoms for 4-6 weeks or so & they were going to follow that up as an out-patient. Unfortunately the Dr's who discharged him forgot about that! So we are back to trying to persuade hubby to see our GP about it.

I'll let you know how my treadmill test goes. It will be interesting as usually the same PM tech monitors my PM while I'm on the treadmill.....I expect she will be doing the same next Tuesday. After events today, I wonder if she be rude to me again or much nicer. I really don't think she expected me to report her to my EP!

Thank you all for your support.

Best wishes
Janey

Your Rights

I think your EP must realise that he is paid for giving a service. Yes you are paying through taxes, even if it is said the NHS is free. Also the secretary and pm tech are paid!
Good on you for standing up to these people, for your rights. No one has the right to be rude, especially to patients.

I hope that the tech will start working with you now. It makes life so much easier and pleasant.

Way to go
