URGENT Hubby unwell ?AF

Hi. For those that know me, I have a 5 year history of arrhythmias, ablations, PM....so I know when a heart rhythm is abnormal.

Hubby has no history of arrhythmias. He had pericarditis when he was 21, a result of glandular fever.

So tonight (UK) he has told me he has been feeling unwell since 11am this morning with palpitations. He was at work (at a hospital!!) & I was out all day...so we have only just caught up with each other tonight.

I have checked his pulse & shocked to find a very strange rhythm. Best way to describe it is.....it feels ok, suddenly goes fast, then goes really slow, misses a beat....it's all over the place. I've been checking it on & off for an hour & it is continuing. He feels unwell when it suddenly goes fast, then slow, misses a beat.

I have no experience of AF & was just wondering if anyone has experienced such a rhythm like this & could it be AF? I appreciate no one on here is a Dr & you can't diagnose....I just wondered if anyone has had anything similar. My experience of arrhythmias is atrial tachycardia, junctional rhythm & VT. His actual heart rate feels around 70 ish...it's not racing. I'm used to having fast arrhythmias, nothing like he is experiencing. It's really odd.

I hope we don't end up in A&E tonight!

Many thanks for any help. Didn't know where else I could get some help from at this time of night.

Thanks
Janey

Emergency

Since Hubby does not feel well and appears to have an erratic heartbeat, please take him to emergency NOW. It is much better to be told all is well than to have a problem untreated which could be serious. Maybe better for him to go by ambulance. Keep us informed.

Janey - why are you waiting? For a miracle?

It's time to bundle him up & get him out of there..

Just based on what you describe - I'd place my first bet on Brady-Tachy & go from there. it's nothing to mess around with.

You go girl! Get him in that ambulance right away. Had I known that I was ready for a cardiac arrest, I would have sought treatment much sooner. He needs help now. Please don't wait.
