Pneumonia

Let me preface this post by saying that I'm a new mom with a sick infant who hasn't had a full night if sleep in weeks. I went to the doctor yesterday for what I thought was just a cold, and ended up being diagnosed with pneumonia. Evidently we're more susceptible to it as heart patients. Did any one else know this? Has any one else had pneumonia? If so can you please give me an idea about recovery time, and let me know if I need to contact my cardiologist? I really don't want to end up in the hospital over this, and my dr looks like that's where I'm heading if he doesn't see improvement in my lungs soon. Thanks in advance for any advice.

First you need help with the baby, get help now. You absolutly need to get all the rest you can, you can not be getting up and down, and you do not want to give the baby this germ. Mom, sister, aunt, friend someone to be there all the time. Next call your cardio and let him know whats going on. he can let you know if this will have any bearing on your heart. The recovery time depends on how well you follow orders and how much rest you get. Please take care of you now so you can care for that sweet baby later. My prayers are with you. Jean

I had pneumonia last june after open heart surgery. Got bad quickly. Ended up in ICU on a ventillator. Almost died. Do not play with this. Good luck..get some help with baby and REST.
