Drinking beer
by Coco11 - 2013-02-17 09:02:37
My husband had a defib pm put in 2 years ago and use to drink does not anymore. The problem with the alcohol is it is a stimulate and can raise the heart rate and effect your meds. Since his heart rate goes to 320 when he goes into Vfib and he passes out its not a good idea for him to drink.he drinks non alcohol beer now it's not the best but he is ok with it.They r talking about ablation surgery for him right now and we r just looking for some normal to our life. It's been a rollercoster it seems for past 2 years has lost his job of 25 years and I am on leave from mine because of fear he will pass out again. Good luck to u and try the non alcohol beer

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
Getting Drunk

Fredy,
Your PM will have little effect on whether you do or do not pass out if you get drunk. That is usually a function of time and the amount of alcohol you consume during that time. For certain it has nothing to do with whether or not your dr is anti alcohol.
