Some Do

I know that some can because there is a warning, sometimes written on the box about not to use them if you have a pacemaker.
I think they are the ones that measure the body fat.
We bought a pair of glass sales last year and when we opened it up and read the booklet it said not to use them if you had a pacemaker or were pregnant.
We took them back and I said to the girl that they really should contact the company because the warning was only on the inside booklet.
We were going too ourself but with Christams rush I forgot all about it.

Fitbits are just fine!!! It's only the SCALE they make to go with it that doesn't work for us. I have mine in my pocket right now.

depends

There are some that are not ok for us, esp the ones that also measure body fat. I know the Aria (works with fitbit) is not good for us.

Glad I read this!

I was going to order a fitbit thinking it would be okay as I was told the Bodybug was, but it didn't work correctly. I was hoping they improved it...guess not. I will just keep my trusty pedo in my pocket.

St Jude Medical says the scales are okay

There are several threads about this on the site, and there's a lot of conflicting information. I suspected, as TracyE said elsewhere, that the warnings on the FitBit Aria scale and buried in the literature for the Weight Watchers and Withings scales are a matter of CYA. To be sure before I shelled out the bucks for a smart scale, I called St. Jude Medical.

They sent me a letter which says in part "Review of scientific literature showed no evidence of inhibition or inappropriate sensing by pacemakers or ICDs during the use of bioelectric impedance units." They follow by saying they do not "anticipate any interference" from such units (including body composition measurement on home or gym scales) and they note that patients using bioelectric impedance units have not reported problems.
