We are waiting to hear from Duke Childrens Hospital in NC because my son Ryan has to get a battery change in his pacemaker/defibulator the lead that controls his defibulator is losing power. Ryan is 17 now and just wants to go get this done I on the other hand dread the whole thing wish I could take his place. Prayers for my boy would be nice

First of all at Duke the parents are ALWAYS included, second of all if you plan on being so nasty stay off of anything I write. Third my son whether he is 18 or 8 he is my child, he has been through 7 open heart surgeries and almost died, so I don't stop worrying because he turns 18. Until you have been in my situation but out !!!!! You are rude and hateful maybe you turned your back on your kids when they turned 18 but I won't and like I said at Duke there motto is a parent is a parent no matter what the age of the child and if the child, teen, adult, husband or wife, wants another person involved then they welcome it .And maybe you don't believe in prayer I hope you do didn't know asking for prayer for my son would make people be so nasty ....what ashame !!
Ryan is 17.....

.....just wait another few months & he'll be 18. Then you will not have to worry any longer. He will be the decision-maker. Mom, it's time to loosen up a bit on being a mother hen.
When he hits 18, the medical community will start shunning you because of HIPPA. Prepare for culture shock.
He will still be covered by your insurance, but the health care facilities will start refusing to talk w/ you. "But I'm his Mother!" will have no weight in discussions.

We will be saying a prayer for him and all the family. I can only imagine your fear right now. I know how I would feel if it were my son. I love my four kids. Remember with our Lord God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!!!! Hang in there and be faithful!!
