Blog: Arrhythmia news for patients

Hey there!

I have finally - the idea had been on my mind for a loooong time - started a blog that will provide arrhythmia patients with (research) news from the field of cardiac rhythm management:

https://arrhythmianewsforpatients.wordpress.com/

There is so much interesting research out there that'd be interesting/helpful for patients to know. Knowledge is power - always. But in order to find all the interesting news, you need to be really familiar with the electrophysiology branch. You need to know where to search, sign up for different newsletters, follow Twitter accounts or Facebook pages. And last but not least being a patient you often have difficulties accessing research results.

So, I have decided to start a blog that on the one hand works like a digest of interesting news articles, summarizing them very briefly and then posting a link to the original articles.

I have only just started, but will hopefully be able to add about 2 - 3 blog entries every week. If you have any feedback, including wishes for topics that should be covered, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Inga

Great Idea

I so agree that it's such an interesting subject and have been reading up myself (most is way over my head).
You already seem to have a really good understanding of the background to the why's and wherefores of PM/arrhythmias and can articulate them well in you comments so I think your blog will be very informative.
Good luck with it.
Jane

Thanks for your feedback!

Josh, I'll put leadless pacing on my list. I know that the Micra TPS was awarded the Innovation Award at the Europace conference, and that new data from the Micra trials was presented there, too, but haven't seen any reports/articles on this, yet. But I could probably do a blog post about what's out there at the moment (Micra and Nanostim and first data).

I'm very interested

Hi Inga,

Thank you for putting this together. I just signed up.
By the way, I have read your previous posts, and they are very helpful.

I'm extremely interested in the possibility of one day having a leadless, pacemaker (I have a single lead in the right atrium). Hopefully you can find more information on this.

Thanks again,
Josh

awesome!

MRI Radiographer s working with pm

by Bryony - 2015-09-08 10:09:11

Hi, if you ever come across info re MRI Radiographers being able to work with a pm in I would be very interested. I was Lead MRI Radiographer until Feb 2014 when I had the pm & told there was no info about it and therefore my career was at an end in MRI. I am a CT Digital Autopsy Radiographer now but still really miss MRI.

thank you

Inga thank you for doing this ! I have a complex arrhythmia, I live in Wisconsin and am looking to see where to go for a second opinion. I was very athletic prior to developing sick sinus syndrome and now inappropriate junctional tach. My RV is paced and I don't feel well. The question is whether His bundle pacing will help and if another sensor would be better. I was scheduled for the procedure but my doc suggested a second opinion. Need to figure out where to go. If you are familiar with where the mecca of research and PM care is, please let me know! Thanks.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
