Hi everybody,
I had my 3rd pacemaker installed in Nov. of 2022. They were going to replace the 20 year old wires at the same time. One is causing interference. But the last minute they decided not to to, I think mainly because of the complications it could cause (bleeding?) and my age of 87 back then.
Immediately after that, my pulse at home was sometimes normal, but often between 38-48! Still going on 15 months later. The nurse at my Electrophysiologist's...

I am starting this new thread because I didn't want to hijack Lavender's thread below. However, Gemita's response to Lavender touches on a subject that I have woken up worrying about - a coincidence!
Just recently, I have noticed that when laying half awake in bed in the morning, I can hear my heart beating - a shushing sound in my ears. I am not worried about this, but the rhythm I am hearing is unsettling.
After about 10 or 15 beats there is a definite pause before t...

So for the past week or so I was experiencing on and off pain in my left arm. From wrist pain, to finger joint pain, palm, forearm, elbow, shoulder.. no numbness, no chest pain, nothing else but these short moments of what I thought was nerve pain.. and all these areas didn't all hurt at once.. it was literally one part hurt then it went away.. if I used my left arm then the pain occurred in my forearm for an example.. pain was never extreme nor did it last long maybe a few seconds or min...

Is anyone here a knitter? If so, do you manage to knit in comfort or do you experience pain at PM site? I've had my PM now for 5 months and still finding this activity a strain. Any ideas welcome.

I get a tinge of pain on left side of my chest by device location. It happens about once an hour, at times there are a couple of tinges. Tinge-=small pain. Is that common or something to be concerned about? I have had my pacemaker since November 2023.

Hi,
I am a police officer and collapsed at work last month, found to be in third degree heart block - age 31 with my heart going at 21! I was given an emergency pacemaker two days later. I have already done several years frontline. My cardiologist states that contact sports and martial arts type contact with a pacemaker is not recommended and also states that nights are not good for overall health. Obviously this pacemaker is working as a constant thing.

Hi Everyone,
This thread is asking for your opinions about the best way to communicate with people who have been trusting enough to express their concerns either on a forum or in real life, and who feel so overwhelmed and stressed that they may become stuck in a cycle of venting (to offload) perhaps because they cannot easily resolve their problems.
At what point do you think it is helpful to break the cycle of venting / offloading and enter into dialogue which may...

I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced nerve pain or damage as a result of the pacemaker and how it was located. For example, in the shoulder area, arm, and or even your hand?
I am a thin person so my pacemaker does not look nice and smooth on my skin... you can tell it's there. I do notice my shoulder isn't as flexible as my right one so occasionally I can feel like a little discomfort in the muscles or nerves.. not on the entire arm. Simply some areas...

Hi! My 11 year old son just hit his 6 week mark and his physician has given him the clear to return to electric guitar and drums. Only thing, he plays about 5 hours a week, in studio, at School of Rock and it gets so loud in there. I know he's supposed to stay 2 feet away from the speakers and amps but it still has me a little concerned. Anyone have any experience with drums and/ or electric guitar? Good or bad since pacemaker implantation? I'm not concerned about the movement, more s...

Hello All, I am an 80 year old woman with a dual lead p/m for bradycardia. Complete (or almost) heart block. I recently moved and am due next week to see my new EP/Cardiologist for the first time.
I have had some rather disturbing issues these past couple of weeks which may or may not be serious or even related to my heart. Let me run this by you and see what you think I should do.
I have been having periods of what I call "fuzziness" where...

Saw the PA for the spine doctor who after seeing the results of the MRI agreed no surgery needed. Which is what the second opionion Dr. said. No new compression fracures just some old ones.
Do have the curvature of the spine in an "S" shape not in the direction of the heart. Thank goodness do not want any more problems with the heart and not severe. No pinched nerves. If any pain can get a corisone shot, as like the other joints...

Again while at Radiology on Monday for Spine MRI. Reader had trouble connecting to their IPad. Again i asked what happens if it does not connect after the MRI. Was reasured if that happens they would not let me leave , but send me to the ER(US). Was at the public hospital.
Pacemaker Clinic say my pacemaker would send an alert to them, saying "not out of safe mode". Did i want to send them a transmission to make sure. I said am checked...

I though this might be an interesting article to post on the Forum at this time.
I was rummaging around in my files and discovered several scholarly articles and a few stodgy studies regarding the risk assessment as it pertains to medical issues and treatments. But, after reading them, I decided they were a bit like eating a bowl of granola without milk: lots of substantial matter to chew on but a bit (cough, cough) dry. There are very few folks who are dead keen...

Published very recently in the UK Daily Mail newspaper
"The NHS is suffering its 'worst heart care crisis in living memory', experts warned last night.
Early deaths from heart disease have hit their highest level in more than a decade, figures reveal.
Cases of heart attacks, heart failure and strokes among the under-75s had tumbled since the 1960s thanks to plummeting smoking rates, advanced surgical techniques and breakthroughs s...

I know this is preaching to the chior as folks on this website certainky are engaged in their care. It worries me at times to think about peole being served by the medical industry who cannot advocate or have no one to advocate for them.
To navigate through the process you have to educate, ask questions, and be engaged.
