I like to run but I recently had a Pacemaker from St. Jude Medical center installed.
I have had some problems because my heart rate was at times going too low, at times, into the 40 BPM range and below, then I would black out!
I like to run and have been wearing a Polar M400 Heart Rate Monitor, it monitors my pulse, with a heart rate strap across my chest.
I don't have high blood pressure! My BP is normal, but once in a while I black out, without any warning, this...

This has all been a huge surprise! By "this", I mean needing and getting a pacemaker, realizing that my seemingly/apparently robust good health, "limitless" can-do Life experiences, and "healthy low blood pressure"...didn't keep bradycardia from being a life-limiting fact. "Surprise!"
It's been a month, now, since pacer need identified and subsequent implantation. Bottom line is that this experience and opportunity just adds to my life phi...

I recently posted a question about my 2017 new Durango. I have a Defibrillator not a Pacemaker as I had said. I hear the ICD is more sensitive to EMI than the Pacemaker. Will the 7 or more hidden antennaes harm my ICD? I am afraid to drive this highly electronic SUV do to all the toys that come with it (smart keyfob and so many electronics. This is a serious question. I'm thinking of taking it back to the dealer. I'd like to hear from people w...

Hi,
I have a Dual lead Medtronic PM installed 2.5 years back. It says its MRI Surescan and my EP said I am OK to get an MRI . Now I have to get MRI for my knee and just wondering if anyone with a MRI Surescan went through an actual MRI before and what's the experience like?

The public charging points for electric cars warn pacemaker users to stay at least 2 metres away when charging the car.
Is this realistic?
Should I be concerned as to having a home fast charger (BMW make one) for their BMW i3?
I have asked the garage and they do not seem to be able to come up with an answer.
Any help, please?
Thanks, Selwyn.

I'm 23 I got my pacemaker implanted in September. The four months that have passed since getting it have basically been a breeze once I adjusted. Earlier today I rode with my husband to town. He was trying to put a radio in our car, and hooked up 2 speakers to the radio to test them out. He put them in the passenger side floor board at my feet while we went to town. On the way home I started feeling really bad, I was really dizzy. Once we got home, I was so weak and dizzy he had to help m...

Hi everyone, I had my pacemaker fitted last week and I'm excited to have it but unclear about some things. This may seem a very silly question, it's about weighing scales. My hospital gave me a copy of Boston Scuentific, Pacemaker Therapy. It contains do's and don'ts. It says not to use body fat measuring scales. As I'm a Slimming World attendee I'm concerned about their scales. Also, at home I have Salter BMI Computer scales which I use regularly to weigh myself. Anyo...

Hi, just a quick question.
I have a pacemaker/defibrillator and am going to Disney World in Florida this June and was wondering if there were any rides at any of the theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom) that I needed to be worried about or shouldn't ride.
When I go to Disneyland I ride everything except for Space Mountain because I'm not too sure if that is ok for me as well.

We have a great deal of static electricity around our home and it is quite bothersome to my husband...he's the one with the pacemaker. We go through Static Guard a lot and was just wondering if anyone had any other tips in decreasing the amount of static around the house???

Okay this first concern might not be that serious: 1) I live alone and have always changed my own lightbulbs when they burned out whether they are inside the house or on porch. Now with a PM, should I find or pay someone to do this chore? 2) Live in a fixer upper house and have a kitchen outlet pretty close to kitchen sink that needs to be sunk in properly into wall and properly covered with an outlet cover. That seems, in my mind, immediate attention-even over a leaky bac...

Any reports of hair dryer interference with a St. Jude pacemaker? I'm trying to separate anxiety provoked pulsing from my PM with actual interference. i.e. I was standing in the kitchen rinsing dishes when my partner fired up our vacuum cleaner in a back room and my PM started to pulse like crazy. I finally went and sat down in the living room (as far away as I could get and everything settled within a few minutes. I...

I live in Oregon and have a company that builds greenhouses. I got my pacemaker a week ago and was just wondering... is it ok to work around 30 - 1000 watt high intensity light ballasts? Some are digital, some old fashioned magnetic, some are high pressure sodium, some Ceramic metal halide, some metal halide. If not what's a safe distace etc. ?

My pacemaker (for slow beating, stopping heart) was installed November 30, 2016 and was complicated with a punctured lung when I moved slightly during the procedure. Since anxiety is one of my major issues (no history of heart disease, under weight if anything) I have enjoyed listening to guided meditations on my Apple Shuffle, however I have seen some mention of interference from these devices and wondered if anyone has any recent information on these devices. T...
