Bit worried, knew this day would come. Some 20 years ago a bad cardiologist " nicked " my wifes lead.. the first bad doc prior didn't kink it right and it was left in. She has complete block and pm dependent since she was 9.
Fastforward, we now see that her lead is starting to fail, she experienced some short fainting a couple weeks ago
ER twice and just couple days prior she was checked and all looked fine. Also looked fine in the ER and was interagated and rep said...

I had received PM on 27th of July and was OK for next 3 months. I had visited hospitle twice during this period of 3 month for 2 times and every thing was OK, but to my surprise on 10th of Nov I had a bradia cardia again and was rushed to hospitle, on checking it was revelled that the leasd of the PM had come out.
No reason is attributed, is this a common with other receipents.

I am 69 years old and facing a replacement of my Biotronik ICD in the next 2-3 months. I live outside the U.S., but am a U.S. Citizen and have Medicare Part A coverage. Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate of the out-of-pocket costs I can expect. Based on the little information i can find online, I suspect it might be around $40-000-50-000. Thanks.

My mother is 85 and not a candidate to get her PM replaced. She reached RRT back on Feb 3 2017. We know her battery will fail over the next month or so but we do not know how she will feel when it stops working. She has been paced for nine years (this is her second unit)... 100% paced but she is not dependent on it. Even paced, she has AT/AF incidents occasionaly. I assume those will increase after the unit dies. But will she be able to move around the...

A bit of news:
A software patch to fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities in implantable cardiac devices from St Jude Medical, now Abbott Laboratories, was not adequately tested before it was rolled out, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has alleged in a Warning Letter to the company posted yesterday ( April 13th).Furthermore, St Jude, which was acquired by Abbott Laboratories on January 4 for $25 billion, is said to have underestimated the risk for sudden battery drainages in i...

Every morning I wake up thrashing and pulling on my ICD. Hope I don't pull me leads out one of these days. In my sleep, subconsciously. I forget it's there and think.. what is this thing and it itches. Get it out of me 😂

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I had my generator changed. Today I am feeling a "tapping sensation" which is insynch with the pulse at my wrist so I know it is the ventricle pacing. ( for a week prior to the replacement surgery I was feeling the VVI pacing in this same location just more forceful and at then it was asynchronous and I was miserable). I'm going in this afternoon to the pacer clinic and of course will have them check everything out- just wondering i...

Boy, it's been a long time since I have been on this site and that's because I was doing quite well. But it's been almost ten years since I had my PM placed and would like to have some reassurance from anyone who may have experience in what I'm about to post. Two months ago I had my usual interrogation done and my battery showed signs of power loss so they put me on a two month recheck schedule. I went in just this past Monday and I was told my pacer was indi...

Hi.. I am a 29 year old female. I got my first pacemaker in 2002 at age 15. It was inserted sub pectoral Due to my age so its not in the usual site. In 2011 I had my first generator changed and this week I had my third. I am worried about scar tissue and how much my body can handle knowing that I will continue to need generator changes for the rest of my life. I have tried to search for research/information on how many batteries has one person gone through,...

Has anyone here ever been replaced with a different brand pacemaker from what they originally had? For example had a Medtroincs and was replaced with a St Judes. If so how did you feel afterwards? Any problems? Did they set you up exactly the same as far as settings? Thank you

Hi all,
i have been suffering significant blood pressure drops since my pacemaker implant in December 2015. I was diagnosed and treated for AF , Atrial Flutter SSS and recently SVT
from a lying position to standing it can drop between 20/30 points which as you can imagine makes you very lightheaded to the point I need to grab hold of something as I feel I'm going to pass out.
it does not happen all the time so it's confusing as to what triggers it off.
ive had...

I am looking at pacer number five in a few weeks. I have one 30 year old lead in use, one broken 30 year old lead that is capped off and one 23 year old lead in use. They say if there is not enough room on the left for a fourth lead (I need a three chamber pacer now vs a two chamber) the choice is do we remove the unused/broken one or do we tunnel over to the right.
Does anyone have a lead that is tunneled over from one side to the other. Are there day to day or other...

Had pm implant 10 days ago. Warned not to raise arm above shoulder level in case I dislodged a lead. In the night I forgot and stretched up to switch light on in a hurry. Am worried sick that I may have done some damage. I cannot face going through the "procedure" again. I am 80 years of age. I do hope someone can help me.

Does anyone know if pacemakers come in different sizes, if so which are larger than others. Are not only the batteries larger but also the length of the leads, after all we are all different heights so the size of our sub clavian veins and hearts are different too. My pacemaker is a Boston Scientific model K287/100638, thank you in advance.

I am convinced that pace maker batteries are no different than car or flashlight batteries when connected to a load. Had mine checked the other day and the interrogation report said 7 years left. The initial life was 12,5 years, exactly 2 years ago. So my pace maker battery lost 5.5 years of "projected" life in just 2 years. The biggest decrease was in the first 6 months when it went from 12.5 to 8 years. Hopefully, the depletion rate will slow down in the fu...
