Hi all !
Yesterday morning I had my pacemaker replaced. I found out when I was in recovery that my cardiologist had a difficult time removing one of the leads from the old pacemaker. He told me he tried for 90 mintues, called all kinds of people for help but was unsuccessful because the nut/screw was corroded and it would not detach. So finally he called the manufacturer for help and they just told him to cut it off and cap it. So now I only have a working lead in the ventricle which&nb...

hi Harrie, one lead, it's the one that goes to the lower part, I asked about replacing both but they said the other is fine , it's the more active lead, upper, 97% , lower is 2%. They think it may be due to my job, caddying, carry doubles so it may be wear and tare. I'm not sure how it gets worn in a vein under my skin and collarbone.
im actually hoping my Dr changes the pm out also(3 yrs left), for obvious reasons. Not covered by insurance, too early.
having it done n...

Hi All
just posting a positive story for those that might be considering lead extraction. I've just had my second in 4 years with no complications. Maintaining the MRI functionality of the system was important to me ( capped leads are a contraindication for an MRI). I had a good electrophysiologist and the surgical protocol ensures availability of emergency treatment so I felt quite safe even though the possibility of a major complication was quoted as one percent.

I recently underwent a lead revision 3 weeks ago after getting my initial pacemaker in May of this year. Both leads ripped out and my doctor said it was from putting my arm above my head. Now I'm freaking out because I don't want them to rip out again. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have been 100% dependent on pacemaker for 16 years and just got my 3rd pacer. the 2nd pacer went into battery save mode and reduced my heart rate to 50 bpm (fisher scientific). Has anyone heard of this? Also they gave me three leads this time because I do have mild heart failure (45% ef). Just implanted two weeks ago and I'm feeling better. Any comments on this? I'm 56 years old.

Hi all! I have had my atrial based pacemaker for almost two years now. The other day I had an EKG done and the impression was that my atrial pacemaker had replaced my sinus rhythm. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, how long until you needed a battery replacement?

Hi.
I have pacemaker (vitatron T70A2) installed in Aug 2010 in India. I am having regular check-up every six month after that. Last check-up was on May 25th 2017. I was told to have next check-up in three month as baterry voltage was 2.62V. For this device RRT is 2.60V.
I am monitoring bp and pulse rate regulalry, suddenly my pulse rate is now fixed at 65 from afternoon of july 9th.
I am in Albany (NY) visiting my son and planning to travel back in september.

About a month ago my annual check showed the v lead was behaving erratically so they increased the voltage while investigating the cause and planning the replacement. Initially that resulted in the 2 am threshold checks waking me up with what felt like palpitations in the actual device as well as three or four smaller pulsations on the left side of the device whenever I yawn. They turned off the threshold checks but the tech said the pulsations were stimulation of the phrenic nerve cause...

Hi, My new Pacemaker Battery was at 11 years longevity during my first check after the surgery. 3 months later it had dropped 3 years. At that rate in 8 or 9 months I will need another. How has your Pacemaker Battery life been?

I was told Tuesday the 13th that my battery has been in replacement mode since last January. I did have a appt. schedule for January but I needed to cancel it. In July of 2016 my battery had 19 months life left, so I thought I would be safe. Well, i guess i was wrong and as I said it has been in replace mode since Jan 2017. I am 100% dependant on the pacemaker and was told Medtronic quarantee it will still work for 4 mo past replacement mode. So. the question if...

My wife is facing multiple lead extractions she has three leads all 25 years old.
Anyway curious if a lead breaks during the extraction, I asume it's just left and they go after a differant one ? Or what ?
She also has scoliousis making things tougher . We have our consult tomorrow.
Feel good about the surgeon Dr. Schearf ( spelling ) at St. Joe, Burbank, Ca.

Ten months ago during the pm implant procedure the EP perforated my atrium and I ended up with cardiac tamponade and open heart surgery. The atrial lead eventually failed as a result of the scar tissue, but ALAS, had the revision surgery a few days ago and all went well. Excellent surgical team that had prepared for the possibility of the scab ripping out and causing an effusion. Once disconnected from the pm during the surgery my hr fell to 28. Glad to be alive. &n...

Hi I recently went in for a box change. Whilst I was in theatre they decided to replace ventricular lead as it had been running at high threshold for two years. They did a venogram which showed enough room to insert but when they tried it wasn't possible. They said that I may have to have stenting prior to replacing it next time. I had an X-ray post procedure which the dr said was fine. However I have this discomfort in my chest and back since. It feels like trapped wind. It seems fi...
