Got my pacemaker March 23. When I went in for my 3 month checkup they determined I was in AFib. Went in hospital next day and they shocked my heart and seem to be doing fine; however this whole situation has me constantly worrying about every little pain, etc. Help!
Saunas
Does anyone know if a regular sauna is okay? I've heard that a FAR infrared sauna is not good because it penetrates so deeply that it can overheat the device. But, I don't know about a regular sauna.

I had my surgery on February 23 this year. At first it wasn't as much pain. But now I have severe pain in my shoulder, arm, and sometimes in my hand/wrist. Have any of y'all been through this? My doctor's won't give me any medicine for the pain but they want to do surgery on my arm.
Pain
I had my pacemaker put in March 5 and then again March 15, since one of the leads went through my heart and was pacing my diaphragm. My scar is still so sore and I get this burning sensation a lot. I’ve seen the Dr and he said I just have to get used to it. Wearing a bra strap hurts it. It is so sensitive. Will it stop hurting I wonder?

in 2006 i was very close to death and for a few months it was missed when i would appear for tests. i fainted in the funeral home where we had visited to make arrangements. finally one day with a pulse of 28 i was invited to have an emergency pacemaker. after a few days i returned home and that night i felt so low and my supportive husband said you will feel like this for a year.i went on to find this club that evening where i met wonderfully supportive people who i consider friends forever,...

Earlier this month I was told that my 9 year old battery was running down and that I had 3 to 5 months left on it. I assume I am now at ERI stage and pm limited to 65 BPM. I am continually tired, slightly giddy and a little breathless. Is this usual? If so is there any way to alleviate this?

So it is going to happen... the pacemaker. I'm 33 yo, my dad was 42 when he had is first device. I have WPW with SSS and having now frequent episodes of AF at 200 BPM. Had one cardioversion 1 months ago. In ordrer to give me appropriate medication (like BetaBlockers) I need a pacemaker, so my doctor says for the past 6 months. I can't find the words to say how sad it makes me feel. I feel broken. Has anyone felt like this? I'm scared, angry... bi...
Ventricular-Pacing symptoms
Hi!
I just had a dual-lead Boston Scientific pacemaker installed about a month ago. I have Bradycardia and 'Sick Sinus Syndrome', and my heart stopped for about 10 seconds while in the hospital for A-Flutter. They did an A-Flutter ablation, then installed the pacemaker.
Most of the time I am not even aware of it, other than the lump on my left shoulder. But I get periods of 'tightness' (not pain) in my chest and neck/throat (occasionally a little...

I have been on two holidays with my pacemaker and I am struggling to cope with the intrusive physical body search - from the security staff - leaving no part of my body un touched, my breasts, crutch and even examining between my toes, hands around my waist belt down my trousers and swabs from my hands.
I am begining to really dread my next holiday .
Is this normal or have I been unlucky?
SPOOKED!
I'm an A-V Node ablated dude and I've been unnerved a couple three times over the past year or so regarding this situation: I'm sitting, relaxed, reading and suddenly, a he-man tachycardia event erupts. After 5 seconds or so, I brace myself, waiting for my pacemakers CRT-D to fire. Another 5 - 10 seconds pass, and the tachy event stops (no CRT-D involvement). Anything to worry about?

I am worried because she is 80 yrs old. Does anyone know or has heard of someone getting a pacemaker at 80? Please let me know.

Hi my name is Alain pronounced (Allen) I'm 28 from Wisconsin recently I've been diagnosed with complete heart block. When I'm sleeping my heart rate drops to about 30 beats per min and my resting heart rate is about 57 beats per min. The thing is I really only have symptoms when I workout, I get very dizzy but I have never passed out. My doctor doesn't want to put a pacemaker in he said because of my age. But if it's the only way I can workout I think I want it done. Don...
My New Friend's Name
Hi Everyone!
As a Newbie and scared I read a post that said it helped to name your device...So that is what I did; or rather what my family did.
My son created a spreadsheet and sent a group text to my immediate family telling them of a contest to name Mom's new best friend. Each one got to submit 3 names and after all were submitted he shared with them the results at which time everyone voted on the name they liked best. (You were not allo...
How to cope
Hi I am new to the forum and have found this site useful since having my pacemaker fitted.
I suppose I am writing this for abit of support. I am 39 and had appendicitis in march 2017 whilst under the anaesthetic they noticed a heart problem. I was sent for routine tests and after dropping a 48hr tape test off at hospital on a Sunday afternoon I reciever a telephone call from the hospital on the Monday (the day after dropping the tape off) to say I needed to come in imm...

hi I posted about 3 months ago about my mum who had a CRT pacemaker. Unfortunately it hasn’t been very successful. Life is pretty frustrating for her. They have tried adjusting the setting but then it just pounds which is very uncomfortable. I know there is probably nothing more that can be done but I thought I would post again in case anyone has some suggestions. She is a very special mum.
Strange/Irregular/extra strong heartbeats with new PM
I'm a newbie here and would appreciate some input....I'm currently 66 years old and have a background of 30+ years of Atrial Tachycardia. It was mild at first and episodes were short in duration and most of the time the Vagal manuevers would stop them. In the past 6 months, the episodes had gotten progressively worse and lasted as long as 2 hours. I'd have heart rates of 180+ BPM long with light-headedness and difficulty breathing while simply sitting in my chair. We tried a numbe...

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
