Worried

Hello all,

So glad I found this site. I am in the first steps on possibly getting a PM. I am 63 and recently started experiencing shortness of breath. I have been a runner for the last 30 years until last August when I suffered major knee issues. Since then I have taken up swimming and biking. I am retired and very active.  8 years ago I was referred to a cardiologist due to a pulse of 35 on an EKG. I was diagnosed with bradycaradia  I was referred for a stress test and echo w...

Pacemakers and dentistry

I have read that I must inform  my dentist about my pacemaker and wondered why. Obviously I will tell her because I usually do as I am told, but  would there be a problem with  ordinary procedures, scaling,  fillings etc? What is this all about?

Feeling Pacing?

Thank you for participating in this forum. I have had a pacemaker for a few years. I had severe bradycardia, (22 beats/min), and I was lucky that we figured it out, as I was really fizzling out...sleeping all the time, no memory, etc. I am retired, and  60. I also have chronic arthritis which is a real pain. I have a Biotronik pacemaker, dual lead, MRI compatible.

I wonder if others feel the pacing especially when you lie down at night? I was told that I would feel ventricular...

how long for you guys

How long did it take for you guys to stop thinking about having a pacemaker after you got your first one? I got mine two months ago and I think about it a lot. Perhaps when the pain goes away entirely I'll stop thinking about it? Seems I have a bit of that shoulder stuff going on. I'm not scared about having it, quite the opposite, its just always on my mind. Like by Christmas do you think it will be old news?

Post-implant Anxiety?

Greetings from a new member, who joined on behalf of his 86 year-old father, a four-month veteran of a pacemaker implant.

He has recently complained of chills early in the morning, and feelings of restlessness.  These episodes do not last more than an hour, but they upset his sleep (as well as my mother's).  They also seem to upset his mental well-being.

His primary care physician, an internist, has ruled out hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia as causes.  His elect...

Post PM implant driving

How long did the drs require you to not drive? Mine gave a range of 7-14 days no driving? Is that the norm following the initial implant procedure? Driving me crazy! I know I need to exercise patience, any advice is appreciated....

7 days since implant and scared

Hi.  This is my first post.  I had my pacemaker implanted last Monday to keep me from passing out.  I have vasovagal syncope.  Sunday before my implant I went for a run.  I was working out regularly and very active.  I’m 45.  Now after the implant I feel disabled.  I’m not supposed to move one of my arms which is very difficult.  The arm that is not the implant side is sore which I’m worried about.  I don’t know if...

Moving the Implant

ok

so I did not know that I could have the pacemaker buried deeper so that I could continue to do martial arts

I have a dual chamber medtronic near the left collar bone and I am afraid to go back to grappling for fear of dislodging it

Question: I will ask this of a physician but figured i'd post this on here anyway

I would like to have it buried deeper. What are my options at this point since I have it in for a year and a half.

Thanks for your time...

Cost of pacemaker transmittings

Hi,

I am new to this forum. It will be two weeks tomorrow since I had my pacemaker put in. My insurance told me my co-pays would be at least $50. a day and could be up to $100.00 a day. Is this what everyone has to pay? I have Federal Blue Cross/Blue Shield. This scares me almost into a panic attack. What if I can't pay, will they shut it down?  These are probably ridiculous questions for some of you. I just need to know. Thanks and I do have alot more to ask but am too tired t...

I am so worried!

I woke up on July 23, 2018 and was going to get tea but I passed out without premonition! I hit my butt on the tile and then my head! First time this ever happened to me! I am 51 and have been diabetic for 17years but adequately controlled. I panicked for my life, my children who are all under 20, my husband, my dad! I went to the hospital and they said I have PVT - wild rhythms at night. After all tests returned normal but they wanted to ensure I have an “insurance” as they put i...

Pacemaker

I had my procedure done twice. The first time the Doctor didn't place the leads deep enough into the heart so 4 weeks later it was redone by another Cardiologist. The second one was done approx. 3 weeks ago. I have pain at the site which I expected from the cutting. What I didn't expect was that I get a shortness of breathe every once in a while that lasts for maybe a breathe or two.  I didn't expect my back muscles behind the area of the pacemaker to be sore. I didn't ex...

Pediatric Patient

Anybody else out there the parent of a child with a pacemaker? My 6 year old daughter has third degree heartblock and just received her pacemaker last week. School starts soon and I'm wondering what your child's school required of you? I don't really want to draw attention to her condition, but with all the tablets and devices used in school, I'm wondering how teachers will react to the "6 inch rule". Her pacemaker is under her sternum, right where she holds eve...

I am 35 and have a micra pacer implanted inside my right ventricle. It’s weird but I haven’t felt like myself since surgery in January. Almost a depression thing going on. My energy is on the floor. I also have a thyroid condition and my levels are perfect right now. I was feeling energized before the surgery and now I feel I don’t have the energy to get off the sofa. Anyone else? My device is the Medtronic Micra trans catheter pacer. It goes inside the heart with no wires.&...

family support

Is there anywhere on this website with information to enlighten family members who need to understand what having a pacemaker means both physically and emotionally?  I thought there was one, but I see nothing at the moment. My own explanations seem to be not enough. Thanks!

New PM- what to expect

June 25th I received my PM after having an 'incident' that has been explained as my 'wiring shorting out'- my heart is in otherwise great condition. I had about a 3 hour episode on the 23rd of June where I felt like passing out, nausea, heart flip-flopping and my pulse went to 34. In the ER it went from 34 to 110 for a short period then to normal. At that point we were sent to another hospital with a cardiologist on call. This is where I learned about a level 2 something or ot...

Two-lead pacemaker

Hi everyone. I am 82 years old and after wearing a heart monitor for 48 hours I was diagnosed with complete Bradycardia. In fact the monitor showed that my heart would stop beating for several seconds when I was asleep. I had my Advisa DR SureScan Pacemaker implanted on 27 July 2017. The lower threshold was initially set a 60 BPM. However, at my first followup on 10 August 2017, I complained of being listless and with no energy when I awoke in the morning and the lower threshold was set at 70...

Here I go again...

Here I go again. Cardiologist wants to do another stress test. Wanted to do the Lexiscan. I refused once again as I had Lexiscan and immediately after IV..ended up in cath lab. They did not know if it was the Lexiscan that caused my stent to collapse or whether I was a walking accident ready to happen. At any rate I refuse to try it again. Had another stent put in 2 years ago. Then..during that stent placement woke up when they were in the vessel (per my doctor) and the pain was excrutiating....

Recent pacemaker

I have had persistent afib for 2 years, had two ablation which has reduced my Afib load to less than 2%. On May 24th I had a dual chamber Medtronic advisa implanted for bradycardia. Since then I constantly get dizzy when standing, and get dizzy at random times for no reason that I can interpret. Is this unusual, and can it be from a settings issue. The lower setting is at 50 and to my knowledge, it has only been needed a few times after exercising. Any thoughts or suggestions would be ap...
