The only thing I have new to add is friday evening when I was at work I had an episode while I was sitting down at the desk..all of a sudden my heart started pounding, got dizzy, and starting s...

I forgot to add that yesterday they did ecg at work jus to check on things and it came up abnormal and said *Electronic atrial pacemaker..*Rightward axis..*ST elevation consider inferior injury or acute infarct..***ACUTE MI***...I do know that sometimes they can over analyze the readings but was curious as to what everyone else might think

update for av node ablation

Went to the dr today to have our little chat, lets just say i'm not a happy camper! When my dr went to new york he had 2 other drs pull him the side and told him not to do the av node ablation, that they had 2 similiar cases and the patients ended up feeling worse than what they did before the ablation so now he has put it on hold until he does some more research. I'm very frustrated as I just had a double chamber PM put in specifically for this procedure. When he did my device check I was pacin...

New technology?

I was suppose to go in for surgery for an av node ablation on jan 16th. My drs office called me on monday and said that my dr wanted to cancel my surgery and said when my dr took my case to new york to present it to other drs he learned about some new technology and he wanted to sit down and talk with me about it. I have no idea what it could be. I don't know if its a new med or a new surgery. For others that haven't read my post before they were suppose to ablate my av node for acclerated junti...

Wanting To Know

Hi everyone, this is the first time for me to post anything, so here goes. I have had my pacemaker/defib for about a year and a half. No problems, it is a St.Jude model. On Thurs afternoon I was driving and became real dizzy and then felt an eruption in my chest that I have never felt before. Went to the hospital and had the info from device downloaded and it had shocked me. What I want to know from others is how long if any did you feel the affects of it? I am still quite sore and still f...

A good idea?

My husband is getting a pacemaker ICD Thurs. Wondering if that will really help? They say his by-pass collapsed & part of his heart muscle died. His EJ factor is 20%. I,m afraid that the procedure might do more harm than good.

two years

Today marks two years of having my original ICD yanked (thank goodness! That one was miserable) and the one (nicnknamed "Mho") placed. I was ever so thankful for my EP that day--completely removing one system and placing a new one on the other side plus an EP study all in fairly good time.

Alas, I couldn't hug him until my one month checkup, as both shoulders were less than cooperative. Ona tangent to that, if anyone here ever needs procedures done on both shoulders at the same tim...

Need a new ICD

I am currently residing in Mexico and my cardiologist here tells me I need a new implantable Cardioverter defribrillator (ICD) in2013. My son works for Delta Airlines and I can fly to places like Thailand or India at a very reduced rate. Would there be a much better cost savings in going to one of these countries versus having the surgery done here in Mexico? Has anyone had experience in one of these countries that they could share? Thank you so very much.

New battery and ICD

Hi all been a while since my last post, so here i am again, i am now on my 3rd pacemaker since 2004. just got the new one on 8/8/2012 only this time i also have a ICD thanks to my home monitor that caught a couple of runs of v tach, the clinic called me in to do an ep study, only to see if they could duplicate the v tach in which they were very successful, my heart rate got to well over 400 bpm that is when they hit me with paddles and got me back in sinus rhythm, so thats where i am right now,...

question about device going off while asleep

Hi all! I just have a quick question...I have a pacemaker/icd and I was wondering if anyone has experienced it shocking you if whatever while you were asleep and what did you feel like after it happened?
I'm asking because I was asleep and woke up for a second and then like shot out of bed and stood up. My left arm was tingly like it fell asleep and my chest felt a little tight like it does when I get anxiety and I was shakey a little bit.
I've had a horrible stressful week withmy gr...

Switch to ICD

Back in 2009 I had a pacer put in all. was good. Then on Sunday December 6 I was sitting watching TV when my heart took off on a race. It turns out the my heart went up tp 175 beats a minute for 5 cycles. The scariest thing I have ever been through. The Dr's and I decided it was time to upgrade. We decided to go with a Biventriicular pacer/defibrilator. I already had a irregular heart beat along with a slow heart rate. So now my heart will be paced both sides at the same time. Healthy for your h...

Home from surgery

I made it back home from surgery yesterday after they took out my single chamber pacemaker and put in a double. Yesterday I felt horrible with nausea and dizziness but today I am a little better. I can acutally sit up today. What I noticed in the hosptial was if I was laying still I was pacing at 58-60 but if I got up or did the smallest thing my rhythm quickly jumped to juntional at around 90 then would slow down when I quit moving. I was hoping that when they added the second lead it would imp...

Surgery tomorrow

I am heading into surgery tomorrow so they can change out my pacemaker from a single chamber to a double. I will be also changing brands, I'm going from a boston scientific to a medtronic. My question is how will my recovery be and will I have restrictions for my left arm since they will be putting in a new lead in my ventricle, and also if I will be as sore as I was the first time. They are having me stay overnight in the hospital so they can monitor me. In jan they will be going back in to abl...

my experience

Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with you. I have had my ICD for 8 years now. I had a heart attack and open heart bypass surgery when I was 37. A few months after the surgery I had my pacemaker put in. It was great until March of 2011 when I had my first shock. I had gone back to school for a certification, problems with my marriage and just a lot of stress in my life. While I was working with a client I got my first ever shock. It was like being hit in the chest with a baseball going 90...
