question about device going off while asleep
Hi all! I just have a quick question...I have a pacemaker/icd and I was wondering if anyone has experienced it shocking you if whatever while you were asleep and what did you feel like after it happened?
I'm asking because I was asleep and woke up for a second and then like shot out of bed and stood up. My left arm was tingly like it fell asleep and my chest felt a little tight like it does when I get anxiety and I was shakey a little bit.
I've had a horrible stressful week withmy grandma passing away and then a few days later having to put down my 15 year old dog down so needless to say I have been crying a lot.
Do you think its just stress? I'm gonna call my dr's office on monday and see if I can send in a reading but wanted to see if anyone has been shocked while sleeping.
Thank you in advance!

ICD Firing

When the ICD fires YOU WILL KNOW IT. Mine fired twice and it literally knocked me to my knees. I recall a bright flash of light from behind my eyeballs and the next thing I'm on the floor.
Agree with Don - call your doc now or go to the hospital. It doesn't sound like the device fired based on your description - something else might be going on.

I wouldn't be here if it were not for this amazing technology inside of me.

I'd call the cardio's office today to get guidance on what to do. If it's nothing serious, you will be told - otherwise, they will tell you what to do.
It is usually a mistake to pass something off as "Just anxiety." Especially when you don't know.
