Hi everyone,
Im new to this forum. My 79 year-old mother had a pacemaker put in this past Monday and was discharged the following day Tuesday. My sister drove her home, and less than a few miles from her house her speech began to slur and her face began to contort. My sister drove her to the nearest hospital. My mother had a massive stroke and 70 percent of her right brain is dead.
The neurologist said this was caused by the pacemaker. Does the hospital not check for...

I received my pacemer 6 weeks ago and on three instances I've been really scared because my heart rate spikes to 100-130 (resting is 60 lower limit is 50) after feeling what I'll call a "thump." I'll then feel weird and sort of short of breath for a brief period and then it normalizes. Is that due to the voltage being so high? I have a PM for sinus arrests so I'm not pacing as often as some of you. I feel like maybe I just get startled when it kicks in. Could it be s...

I had a pacemaker installed two years ago ( (St. Jude's Zephyr XL DR). I noticed a significant drop in energy afterwards rather than improved energy as the cardiologist had promised. Finally he made some adjustments last week -- after which my energy level dropped even further! Twice this week coming home from breakfast, I became extremely exhausted after walking only 10 to 12 blocks. I was also sweating profusely. Admittedly it's hot here, but no hotter than it's been for the pas...

Hi again
my hubby is complaining of his heart feeling like it wants to jump out of his chest. I actually thought he may be becoming paranoid as it's only been 3 weeks since his pm was fitted but I've actually felt it happening. He doesn't feel light headed or dizzy when it happens but sadly he is experiencing syncope sometimes 4 per day for last 2 weeks , his pm has been checked and working fine but he was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2014 and cardiologists...

Hi
ive joined for advice for my husband who in 2014 had a seizure then in may 2015 a second one and was immediately diagnosed with epilepsy as he bit his tongue etc.
More recently he's been having seizures that the epilepsy consultant doesn't recognise.,I should have explained heart issues run in his family so I have been asking all along could this be heart related until 3 weeks ago he was finally fitted with a 7 day heart monitor. I handed this monitor...

Not sure what topic to place this under since there is no topic for Device Recalls. Maybe there should be?
Anyhow. about the current recall:
ABBOTT PARK, Ill., Aug. 29, 2017 – Today, Abbott notified physicians of updates to its implantable pacemakers and defibrillators as part of its ongoing commitment to continuously improve patient care. The new device updates include a Battery Performance Alert for our implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) that provides...

i had my pacemaker put in last July and it's been mainly fine - just the odd bit of fine tuning needed. Every now and then it itches and I feel like ripping it out, so my cardiologist put me on Gabapentin to help calm down the nerve endings. I have been taking this for about 3 weeks. Last night though, I felt really poorly, I was cold and shivering but I was burning up and felt really achey. This morning I feel a bit better but it aches/burns around my pacemak...

Alyssaa14,
You can have a safe pregnacy & have a pacemaker. You'd need to see an ob that is specialized in high risk. You will need to be monitored closely. I was a teen when My abdominal pacer was removed. It is now in my left upper chest. I have had 2 healthy pregnancies, delivered both naturally as well. I was 1 when my first pacer was put in, so It i all that I know. I had my devices replaced prior to both of y pregnancies. any med wih or Pril, youd...

New to site. Glad I found. Lots of interesting info. Have had mine for a month, just had a 2nd procedure last week for the replacement of the so called "complicated lead". The one that cannot just be placed anywhere. I just got a call today that my update last frid shows low impedance and that I need to go back again. Have any of you had complications of this same issue?

Hey guys, I just got my pacemaker fit in almost 3 weeks ago and I've healed fine but I have really weird symptoms that I didn't have before. My heart rate is still a little wonky and it fluctuates between 60-90 throughout the day. Also, when I go to sleep, I end up waking up abruptly and scared because my heart rate is over 100 more like 120 and I have palpitations. I had my pacemaker interrogated three times and it's workng perfectly fine they're saying it's my own pacema...

Hi all. First time poster and thrilled to find a group actively sharing experiences and help for each other. I have a bit of a strange question but hoping somebody might have a similar story.
I have complete congenital heart block and received my first dual lead pacer preventively when I was 30 as studies showed adults with my rare condition were dying for various unpredictable reasons. Underlying pulse my whole life was low 40's, it accelerated fine for sport...

Hey everyone,
I'm 16 years old, living in Wetsern Australia, and received my first pacemaker implant back in February. I had a major incident back when I was 9 years old relating to the same heart condition, but the doctors then couldn't find the source of the problem and released me from their care. Fast forward to this year and I receive the same symptoms, but this time they could identify the problem and decided to implant a pacemaker in me.
I've been expe...

Hi there-
Anyone have much experience with SVC syndrome? I seem to have developed a very large blood clot in my SVC which was causing a 90% occlusion of the vein. After finding this out, it seems like there is some sense to the vague symptoms that have been bothering me for years. Tightness in my throat, swelling in my face, pressure in my head, swelling in my hands. I just had a 10 cm stent placed in my SVC and seem to be doing better- hard to tell when I'm not supposed...
