Hi again
my hubby is complaining of his heart feeling like it wants to jump out of his chest. I actually thought he may be becoming paranoid as it's only been 3 weeks since his pm was fitted but I've actually felt it happening. He doesn't feel light headed or dizzy when it happens but sadly he is experiencing syncope sometimes 4 per day for last 2 weeks , his pm has been checked and working fine but he was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2014 and cardiologists thinks it's been his heart causing issues so he may not have epilepsy. He is still on epilepsy meds so we are seeing neurologist Monday to see about slowly weaning him off them so we find out for sure if he does have epilepsy as no tests have been done. It's so difficult and my concern is could it be yet another underlying heart defect.

When our devices are first implanted the voltage is set high or a factory setting until our hearts get used to being paced and the leads settle in. After a few weeks or months it is very common for the device to need an adjustment or two for each individual.
When they lowered the voltage for me, the pounding stopped.
Obviously your husbands condition is more involved but this would be an easy place to start. Good luck.

Something you need to know

Are you saying that four times a day, your hubby is passing out? You must be terrified.
Adding to what Grateful said, you need to understand that "your pacemaker is working fine" only means, "your pacemaker is working the way its programming is set to."
It does not mean, "your pacemaker is working in a way that is optimal for you." It's unlikely, but it is possible that the pacemaker could be "working fine" but causing his problem. In that case, the settings need to be changed. Different hearts respond differently to being paced. There is an art as well as science to finding the right settings, and it can take several tries.
Your hubby is fortunate to have you to advocate for him. Hang in there, insisting that you be heard.

Thanks Robin
Its difficult but must admit his neuro actually was considering changing his medication as he admitted it could have been causing these new issues but fingers crossed.
