Hi All, Happy Chinese New Year (I wrote books about such things) After the installation of my pacemaker, my cardiologist told me to hold off on exercise. Nothing strenuous and above all don't lift heavy things.
Before the AFib and Pacemaker, I was at the gym 3 times a week with a trainer. Now I am a blob. During the Afib I was in hospital for 6 months trying different meds to slow my heart. As a result my muscles have melted. Now it hurts to walk.
Has anyone had a similar...

I`ve been diagnosed now with etopics which seen to come and go in runs . This appears to have been the problem that's been making me feel really rubbish some days and do not feel like exercise. For some reason they have not been reported by the Techs at my regular check ups.
I was suppose to have had bigeminy rythms some time ago but could never feel it when checking my pulse.
Now however I can feel regular missed beats when feeling bad.
My question is why do I have missed beat...

Question: Has anyone had the experience of having their running watch give an incorrect heartrate because of interference from the pacemaker? My Garmin forerunner 225 jumped from 120 bpm to 175 bpm and wouldn't correct until I removed it and then put it back on. I am going to see if wearing it on the other wrist makes a difference.

Iâm kind of new to this but I figured I would post something. When I was little I grew tired all the time, but never while playing the game I love. Baseball. Eventually doctors decided it was time for me to get a pacemaker when I was nine, and asked me what my dream was. I said I wanted to play college baseball. The doctor looked me and my parents in the eye and said that was unlikely with your condition, and will be risky as the level of play increases. Thatâs when I decided, that I was goi...

I have an occasional back problem and I like to hang from a bar, supposedly to stretch my back, and I have wondered recently whether this hanging with my full weight on my arms might be harmful to my pacemaker.

I have been in a supervised exercise program for 18 months. Was doing extremely well and for the last 4 weeks have been very short of breath. The trainers have modified my program to try to accommodate the shortness of breath. Blood tests reveal a very slight increase in thyroid. Everything else normal. Pacemaker has an upper limit of 130. I have third degree heart block and have had 2 ablations. My question is should my pacemaker setting be increased to accommodate my increase in physical fitne...

Hi all
Just completed a 10k race - first one in 18 months due to ongoing calf (not heart) problems. I have done quite a bit of training for it but I really struggle going up hills (there is a gradual hill between 2 and 4 k). I feel I've got no energy or oomph! to get me up. I seem okay once the route flattens out. I get quite frustrated that before the pm implant in 2013 the people I used to beat quite easily and who are in my age group now beat me - not that I'm competitive or a...

I have a Medtronic Consulta CRT-P.
Now three months post implantation I am back to running , being a 35 year plus marathoner. Implanted because of intermittent second degree block plus LBBB.
My running times are approaching my pre-LBBB levels but I am noticing a very sluggish first mile and my Polar heart rate is very erratic during that time , reading much higher than my counted pulse at wrist. Question are there settings on the Rate Response function that are involved?ADL rate is95....

After reflecting on member advice and being urged by my anxious wife I decided to skip the 4 mile run this morning. There are more coming next month. Thanks for taking the time to give me the benefit of your experience.

I received my pacemaker 19 days ago and am supposed to run a 4 mile race tomorrow. I am using a Forerunner 225 to track my heart rate. Any advice on how much stress I should allow?

Hi! I'm hoping someone out there has a similar story and can share their experience!!
I had a pacemaker installed abdominally two weeks ago. I live in anchorage, Alaska. I went home with instructions and cautions on chest implants (no help to me)
I've been able to piece my way through most of it....except- we are avid outdoor enthusiasts! I see information on 12" from ignition or spark plugs. Does anybody ride ATV's or motorcycles with a abdominal implant? I'm a petite female so I hav...

I know a number of PM Club folks have run marathons or half marathon or triathlons but my question is have any done so with a CRT.
Having run a number of marathons I now have a Bi V because of a exercise induced AV block and a left bundle branch block. The LBBB is recent and clearly decreased by exercise capacity.Since the PM implantation by exercise capacity is almost back to the pre LBBB levels. I have decided to retire from marathoning but a half looks very doable.

Hi all,
I'm a 30yo female who was implanted about 8 weeks ago- I have neurocardiogenic syncope with the PM put in place for Bradycardia.
Prior to my implantation I was a big fan of Crossfit- having started in September and I felt I finally had found the thing that I enjoyed after many souless years of treadmills and rowers! Since my PM however I have found it difficult to imagine ever being confident doing Crossfit and not worrying about pulling my leads out. I just can't at...

I'm in my mid-60's and just learned I have bradycardia. I'm undergoing additional tests but low heart rates run in my family. My expectation is that a pacemaker is in my near future. I'm new to this so I don't know what to expect. I'm an amateur race car driver. Will a pacemaker affect my ability to continue doing this? My race car has a five-point harness. Will a pacemaker affect my ability to be strapped in tightly? Has anyone dealt with this? Thank you.

I have been exercising a lot lately...that's good. I am doing free weights but have a question. I am using a 10lb weight for bicep curls ..I would 3 sets of 10. I just bought 15lb weight and its very heavy, I carried it to my workout room. Should I have bought 12lbs to increase ? What does everyone increase by 2's ?

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
