I have been exercising a lot lately...that's good. I am doing free weights but have a question. I am using a 10lb weight for bicep curls ..I would 3 sets of 10. I just bought 15lb weight and its very heavy, I carried it to my workout room. Should I have bought 12lbs to increase ? What does everyone increase by 2's ?

At the YMCA that I go to the in the group exercise room where they have 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 lb weights. The exercise tht they do are often very high rep and/or high sets. This is more for toning.
On the main floor where they free weights and machines they they are 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.
But there are lots of option in rate, reps and sets. Besides just weight.
So just 12 reps/set. When that is OK then start with 8 reps/set of the next higher.
You know you're wired when...
You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.

It's ok to go up by 5, just do fewer reps until the new one doesn't feel so heavy. Before you know it, the 15 will feel right and you'll be glad you don't have the 12 sitting around catching dust.
